There are contemporary sources for these people (ie things written at the time they existed). The only source you have for yours is the bible and that certainly isn't contemporary and is of rather dubious origin. There are pictures though.
In regards to the flood. If there had been a world wide flood there would be physical evidence of such. There isn't. Pretty simple really.
Thanks for playing though!

Hehe.... sorry..getting tired....don't disagree or agree with you...but just did 5 hours of math homework, figured i'd shed my two cents.
one way to prove something exists is to prove everything else possible doesn't exists.
Anyways, you can claim that stuff didn't happen cuz there is no proof it happened.....same time you can say there is no proof it didn't happen....
There is actually more evidence it did happen sicne it is written down in scripture.....and there is no written record from the past of those events NOT happening.
Anyways i think that would be a more sound argument
Still got some problems with it... if you can find a single event in scripture which contradicts itself then the statement goes down the hole.....same time you can find any statement that is verifiable and then statment holds...
But it seems like both of those exists..so the only solution is zero and we have made no ground at all.

no not really. There are plenty of accounts of for instance Alexander teh Great - someone who conquers half the western world tends to get written about even in the pre-printing press/newspaper/internet world. There are plenty of accounts although we obviously don't know everything about his life. Noah's flood was considerably longer ago, and there are very few references to it other than the OT. There is also no physical remains that have been discovered (doesn't mean that they don't exist).
so you're comparing different things.
However it's not a competition, and shouldn't we be trying to arrive at some shared understanding and truth rather than just an I'm tight you're wrong kind of attitude?

So, going by your logic, anyone mentioned in stories of old MUST exist because there is no proof that they don't.
Jeez.. grow up. The people you mentioned have more historical evidence and left behind an undisputed legacy to the world, that's a bit different to appearing in a few tall tales. Should we believe that Heracles really did complete his 12 labours as well?

There are written accounts of all events you allude to. There is also geological evidence of a great flood. There is also the possibility of evidence of the Ark on Mt. Ararat but the Gov. will not allow exploration. Do you need to proof there is oxygen? Yet you believe there is as you breathe or you die. Not all things can be proven some things must be taken on faith of the one who authored the words.

socrates could possibly be fictional, few but plato seem to mention him. alexander the great had a habit of leaving behind cities called alexandria, you can't easily make that up. mark anthony, i dunno who cares? no one claims that he is the father of all humanity, do they, so why should i care if he really existed or not?
adam and the flood would have left inescapable evidence of their existence, for example in the geologic record and the genetic diversity of humankind, which is not seen. those things probably did not happen, and certainly did not happen just as the bible says they did.

Some things are easier to take at face-value, especially when supported with reasonably stated evidence, as well as when it comes from separate and credited sources.
But there's always a distinction to be made. People don't stumble on the Lord of the Rings and accidentally view it as a history lesson.

Yeeeeeah, this stuff (proof, no proof) doesn't work for either side... we get these questions ALL the time.
I think we've come to a consensus on the issue, if we're going to argue about anything, it's going to based on philosophy and not on what's proof and what's not.
