Gautama Buddha was an Indian prince who was looking for enlightenment in a world full of materialistic desires. He was smart, wealthy and well-educated. But because of his displeasure in seeing how men can be consumed by their greed and worldy pleasures, he decided to detached from the world and lived a life of simplicity, contenment, and constant mediatation to find the Light. And so he did. Because of his giving up the worldy pleasures, he understood the spiritual aspect of living. He understood the true meaning of compassion, love, forgiveness, mercy, and frugality. He never made a tremendous change though with the belief system of his people at that time. His people already believed in reincarnation and Nirvana. But what made the difference is the application of this system of belief into something concrete in an individual. Compassion and love are not anymore the result of that belief system but rather the purpose of it. They became not only words to be desired but actual truth to be experienced.
Confucius was a Chinese philisopher. He did not give up a life of wealth and fame to be able to teach mankind because he lived a simple life. His teaching and philosophy is humanistic in nature. He stressed that the center of all actions whether bad or good is man. He is the one who formulated the golden rule: "Do not do unto others what you do want others to do unto you." This in a nutshell is a mirror life. Which means the reactions you get are the actions you gave. But this is totally different from karma. Although they are both "action and reaction" effects, the spiritual application is very different. His philosophy is widely practiced by the Confucians of China, Korea, and Japan but also by some of the Taoism sects. We have to bear in mind that Lao-Tze (the founder of Taoism) was greatly influenced by Confucius.
As for Plato, his philosophy is not immersed into something spiritual. His teachings were mainly arrived through the process of logic and rationalization. That man is capable of understanding his environment by using his senses and intellect. Although I may say spirituality can be logical and rational, but not all spirituality is.
