1 Corinthians 11:14-15 it says "Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as covering"

So its a sin for women to cut her hair short? But obviously no one follows this. I see tons of Christian women with short hair.

Deuteronomy 23:2 it says "No one born of an illigitiamate marriage nor any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord, even down to the 10th generation."

So if your parents are unmarried you arent in Gods Assembly? Well it doesnt seem like anyone takes real notice of this one either. God wouldnt not let a child in his kingdom b/c the parents sinned. right?

To my point, so here are 2 examples of how the Bible says ppl should be but no one really follows them.... so why is homosexuality wrong? all sins are the same, right? so a woman living her life short-haired is just as bad as a woman loving another woman?

HELP!

"1 Corinthians 11:14-15 it says "Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as covering"
So its a sin for women to cut her hair short?"

Here Paul was mentioning about the long hairs which certain males during those times pracctised. Its based on that context clearly written whats a disgrace, And ie. long hair for a man. Long hair for a Woman is her Glory, but if it was a disgrace to have short hair, he would have mentioned that.

"..Deuteronomy 23:2 it says "No one born of an illigitiamate marriage nor any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the Lord, even down to the 10th generation."

So if your parents are unmarried you arent in Gods Assembly? Well it doesnt seem like anyone takes real notice of this one either. God wouldnt not let a child in his kingdom b/c the parents sinned. right?..."

Now by the Law given to the children of Israel, if you do a sin worthy of death, then without any other option your put to death....But now you can see a example in the NT where they brought a woman caught in Adultery. According to Law to be stoned, BUT she found grace at the presence of Jesus.

Now so even if your born to unmarried parents, you Come to the feet of the Cross and accept Jesus as your Personal Saviour, your received into that Eternal Kingdom.

If the parents who had such illegitimate relationships confess their sins and Accept Christ as their Personal Saviour He is faithful and just to Forgive them and Receive them into His Kingdom.

Because now you are saved by Faith, not by Works. Imagine yourself front a water pond. I'll drop a small tiny stone in...it sinks, small ripples...Now you throw a BIG stone..with a splash and Big ripples, that too sinks...THATs the Grace and Love of God.....thats the Cleansing power of the Blood of Jesus...Once you come to Jesus, Confess and make u your mind not to repeat the mistakes you did...

"...To my point, so here are 2 examples of how the Bible says ppl should be but no one really follows them.... so why is homosexuality wrong? all sins are the same, right? so a woman living her life short-haired is just as bad as a woman loving another woman?..."

So short / long hair for Woman, thats not the concern to the Text, But he was pointing to Men having long hair - its a Disgrace

To answer homosexuality - Its is a grave sin

Let God help us in our walk with God and reveal to us the deep mysteries of the Truth that lies beyond. God grant us His Grace abundant..

the bible has many contradictory things I am a christian but I have long hair and I am male, my parents and church members are all ways pointing out that I should not have long hair I point out to them that Samson and Samuel had long hair and also there is such a thing as a Nazarene vow where a man would grow his hair, and Muslims would tell you that all the Prophets had long hair, so If it is a shame and a disgrace why do I not feel ashamed or disgraced and why Is it they try to make me feel so. I do not know why I grow my hair I just do and I don't believe it is a sin its only a shame and I can live with that, I'm only interested in being perfect spiritually not physically

The Bible's rules/laws have to be taken within the context in which they were written.

Also, Jesus dying for our sins eliminated a lot of the rules and requirements of the Old Testament, like animal sacrifice.

I say the best thing to do if you really want to understand the Bible in it's intended context is to take a couple of courses at a college that will dissect it's history. That way you can better understand which "rules" are meant to be set in stone and which were meant for the people at the time the Bible was written but now no longer apply.

Good question.

It doesn't matter what people do, but what does the bible say. It would be nice if we who called ourselves Christians practiced what we preached, but we don't always do it. But that doesn't mean the bible is wrong because we fail.

Paul's letter to the Corinthians is the inspired word of God but we need to remember that it was a letter sent to a specific group of people. He was writing to them knowing their culture and way of life. His instruction about hair length was true for that time and place in Corinth and what the rules of society held for the people of that place. It was not an instruction for all people at all time.

The Deuteronomy verse was a law that God gave to the Jewish people. The law was given to show how holy God was and how much God hates sin. I think the law applied only to the assembling of the people at the temple or tabernacle, I don't think it prevented them from entering heaven when they die.

This is a great case of reading WHAT the Bible says and not looking into WHY the Bible says it.

For the hair comment: In Corinth during the first century, homosexual male prostitutes were recognized by wearing their hair long. So to have long hair as a man, it was assumed that he was a prostitute. It also does not say that a woman must have long hair, but that she should have a 'covering' and that her hair serves as this covering. The whole context is modesty and appropriateness during worship.

As for your passage in Deuteronomy, this was part of a larger set of Old Testament laws. By illegitimate, they meant a marriage of an Israelite to a foreigner. The Israelite people were told to keep foreign blood out of their bloodlines, so as to keep the influence of believers of foreign gods out of their religious practices. This law, however, was repealed by Christianity, when it accepted the Gentiles as well as the Jews.

Some pick and choose because some cannot stand to follow. In the bible Jesus says (not exact word for word but the idea is correct) and tells people if they want to be with him, then give away all your possessions to the poor, people in need, etc. and then tells the person to follow him. Some people not entirely devoted to god, wish to not follow because they value these things over god. some Christians who pick and choose may not be entirely devoted (because they don't listen) or just don't know that they sinned (not knowing of gods word and not knowing that cutting your hair short is a sin for women). There are many other reasons on why people pick and choose but I believe these are two of the main ones.

God does not say that women with short hair are an abomination. He does spell out that a man or woman lying with a man/woman is an abomination. This is called the final rebellion against God. Deuteronomy is Old Testament it is under the law not under Grace. Because of Christ's sacrifice we can be redeemed from sin and reconciled with God through His plan of salvation through belief in Jesus.

These things were brought to the front and told of and to a hard people, that would like the people over in the middle east, change sides and worship and fight with their former enemies. They could quicly make a god out of an image, or even a rock formation. Like a young child has to be fed and clothed, they had to be guided through daily life, and taught to avoid pitfalls. It is not a sin to cut hair, but sampson found his strength gone, when a woman cut his.

The Bible is written by man. You can take several versus' in the bible and find fault if that is what you are looking for. The Bible is our guide about how to live our lives. I read both versus' you quoted and no where does it say "God said this". It still amazes me the length people will go to to try and discredit the Bible. Hello. The Bible is written by man, but God told him to write it. So it won't be perfect get over it. Besides, how does a woman cutting her hair compare to what Jesus said about one man not lying with another man?

understand that the bible was written and takes place in a time when those things were acceptable/not acceptable of people.
Do we wash eachothers feet before eating???
We live in a time (the end times) when things are at their worst. It says in revolations that mothers will be killing their children and fathers will be fighting sons.
Also understand that, as long as a person accepts Jesus as their lord and savior, they will be accepted into the kingdom of heaven. Now I dont just mean going to church. I mean having a relationship with God, doing his will, telling others about him,. Now there is such a thing called "the age of accountability" I am not certain at what age, but after a certain age we are the ones that have to choose for ourselves if we want to be a christian or not. Before that age it is our parents job to bring us up as christians. Sinners (all sinners -which means everyone-) will have to stand up before God and be judged. Yes God sees sins as the same, but it is more than that. There are the 10 Commandments that says certain things we are not supposed to do. The seven deadly sins. I suggest you get yourself a teen bible or a young persons bible. Also it is not your concern to worry about other peoples sins, unless if affects you personally. Let God deal with them. I do believe that what our parents and the others before us does affect how we live our lives and certainly our salvation. A person who questions too much is not always a good thing. Have faith in our Lord! God is good!
