Recently I've been working toward becoming more respectful towards women, just because. Until now, the few things I DO know (i.e. opening doors for them, giving them my seat if there is none available) have been received well by the girls I know, and by the random ones I don't actually know but am chivalrous towards anyway.

So I'd like to add some more things to my list, because those two above are all I know. Besides common courtesy that you do for anyone, I was wondering if there is a list somewhere (or if someone could give me one) of gallant things to do.

Chivalrous is more than politeness.

The gentleman who is considered chivalrous (UK) is the gentleman that shows his appreciation of the lady in his life and those around him.

A picked flower presented to a lady in honour of her beauty and grace is chivalrous.

Standing up when a lady leaves or enters a room.

Holding doors and umbrellas - and offering her the shade of yours if you have one - very nice.

"May I help you" ALWAYS "may" NEVER "can?" in places where a lady may benefit from your assistance.

Always walk nearest the road when you are walking beside a lady - to shield her from any splashes from passing cars.

ALWAYS compliment a lady on her exquisite taste in dress, food and perfume.

NEVER ever tell a lady that she "smells" nice! NO LADY SMELLS!

It is absolutely delightful to hear that you have the intentions that you have - it is a long lost art form and one that would benefit the whole of society if it were to be taken up again.

Congratulations on your ambitions!

You get a star from me!

Tell them they smell nice, not sexy ,not tasty, nice.
A simple" Is your hair different?" is effective.
Or, if you're on a date, order desert and let her have it.
If you are in a club, most woman would love being told;
"Those shoes are hot!" Woman love shoes!
Non-sexual compliments are always good.

Just using common sense politeness is the very best thing to do. You can't go wrong with it.
