i dont think that they are maggots. if they are where your dog is your dog might have tapeworm. you might want to take your dog to the vet.

Maggots don't get into water. This doesn't sound like maggots. Maggots are fat caterpillar type worms about 5/8th of an inch long. One end of the worm is pointed (the head), the other end is more rounded. Maggots don't just crawl around on a patio by themselves. The flies lay their eggs on dead debris so when the babies hatch they have something to eat.
I would take one of the worms in a baggie to someone who would know and let them look at it. Maybe a garden shop, or a vet. They won't charge you for looking. It's difficult for us to tell what these are from your description.
Good luck.

WOW. That's a freak thing. You washed the dishes in a automatic dishwasher? If not use soap and water and rinse in high heat if you are hand washing. Use a hard brush on the patio. A great cleaner is simple green u can get it for about $8 for a huge gallon Home Depot and dilute it, best thing it is safe and eco-friendly. Lastly do your dog's need to go to the vet. Make sure the yard is always cleaned once in the morning, once at night, minimum if you can't do it immediatly. Take a stool sample off each dog and they can run a fecal sample at the vet for about $10 each. You sure they aren't worms? Also make sure there isn't anything dying underneath the patio I hate to mention. Good Luck!

there is a type of worm called a "rice worm" it looks exactly like a maggot but is actually a worm that probably is in the bowel of your dog. When the dog poo's the worms will seek out places to go..IE: food dish, water bowl...hide in the dogs pads so next time he goes out, there they are again. Try to find a fresh stool sample and collect it. If it has little buggers that look like rice but move...its worms.See the vet either way.

Check your dogs over very thoroughly.Do they have long hair, hot spots ,or sores on them,or do they have urine or feces on their rear ends? If they do,they could be the source of the maggots.Flies will lay eggs on wet, smelly hair,or on sores, and the eggs will hatch on the dogs. This is an emergency,as the maggots excrete a toxin, which can quickly kill the dog.Look in their ears, too, and their mouths. If one or both of them has a peculiar ,rotten smell, like garbage,or if you see maggots,or one or both of the dogs acts like it doesn't feel well, get it to a vet, pronto! The dog would need to be shaved down and the maggots cleaned out of the wound or hair, and the dog will also need antibiotics and fluids to treat it for infection and shock.Hurry and check your dogs over now!

Maggots come from flies. You need to keep the area super clean and make sure there are no bits of food or muck lying about. This includes, kennel, bedding and dogs - do they need a bath?

This is a mystery. Do you feed your dog wet, canned food outside next to the water dish? If your dog isn't eating it all up in one sitting, the flies are eating the residuals, causing the infestation of maggots. I would suggest you switch to dry dog food when feeding your dog outside.

my dad once had a dog with a very small injury on her leg. we kept noticing maggots like that, but since they were inside her skin we did not detect them til it was too late(you couldnt see anything on the outside other that her being sensitive). check your dogs over thouroughly.
also, check the eves of your house or move the water bowl, there may be a dead bird or other small animal above the bowl

Maggots obviously wouldn't be living on your dogs so I would inspect the food and then the surroundings. Or maybe your next door neighbor doesn't like you or maybe they are just falling off of something.
