6 months ago in February i had a severe stress related event.

This stress related event had me thinking about suicide for a good week, where i would wake up in the middle of the night with a pain in my heart i have never ever felt in my life before.

It seems that as this stress related event occured, i became ill with flu-like symptoms for nearly a month, everyday. After that month of illness, it seems my immune system stabilized, and i havent been sick in 5 months to this day in August. I also lost a substancial amount of hair in this time as well..... Please help

Stress and health are closely linked. It is well known that stress, either quick or constant, can induce risky body-mind disorders. Immediate disorders such as dizzy spells, anxiety, tension, sleeplessness, nervousness and muscle cramps can all result in chronic health problems. In the long run they may also affect our immune, cardiovascular and nervous systems.

I also know this from personal experience.

Remedies? See a physician, they can help you out on that.

Since everyone else missed this point so far, stress reduces the immune system. When under severe stress it is easy to catch illnesses, and from personal experience it can affect hair some. During a high stress situation a few years back my hair went almost entirely grey. once the stress was removed, my color came back within a week or two (its strange) as for hair loss, i cant be positive if it will regrow. If it is that bad, you should see a doctor. they can perscribe medications which will help reduce the stress (hopefully the reason for the stress will go away and you can stop the medicine)

That sounds like severe stress. I was sick for a month once with a mysterious cold that felt like the flu but wasn't--being sick that long takes a serious toll on your immune system. And psychological stress combined with physical can be really difficult. Take care of yourself any way you can....massage, yoga, accupuncture, lots of vitamins, pure water and healthy food. Also surround yourself with as many kind people as possible. Feel better soon.

Do not stress.
Take each day as it comes.

Not to worry if things dont get to ur way. Or dont let events that have happened to harm you. Smile always no matter, talk to urself always, remind urself that you are no different than anyone else. You need to eat well, fruits, vegtables, less of heavy meat, chicken delicasies. Make urself more active by exersing again. Try yoga, breathing techniques. Avoid too many medicines. All the Best
Take Care

First of all, you need to identify the problem. What is it that is causing you so much stress? Do you have a problem with a boyfriend or girlfriend? Stress does have an effect on your immune sytem. It can weaken your bodies' ability to fight infection. Hair loss can also occur because of stress. Stress releases certain horomones into your body which can affect many things.

I am not sure if you should be taking any extra supplements or medicine unless it is prescribed by the doctor. It is not a good idea to take strong painkillers with a chest infection especially as you have asthma, as some people have suggested. Some vitamin supplements may interact with the antibiotics reducing the effectiveness. What may help to ease your chest pain safely are either heat or cold over the painful area, maybe a steam inhalant to ease the congestion in the lungs. Other than that plenty of fluids and lots of sleep to help the antibiotics do their job. I hope you feel better soon Andy

Excellent question.

Consider the word disease.........break it down. dis - ease which is simply stating that stress can definitely cause dis ease of the body, meaning lack of health.

I would recommend you try meditation or EFT (emotional freedom technique) to help you learn to deal with stress more effectively over the long term.

The following website (http://www.LivingWithRheumatoidArthritis.com) has many tips on learning to handle stress as well as ways to help build a strong immune system.

Yes. It all sounds stress related. There are other tell-tale signs as well. Your hormones get outta whack from the stress, resulting in differences in how your body responds to things. Think of positive things, happy places, stress relievers. Good luck.

Stress combined with caffeine is a horrible horrible thing, it multiplies your depression.
Also, if you drink alot of products with citric acid, soda, gatorade, powerade, tea, and vitamin water, then you can get stomach ulcers, which sap your body of strength.
Avoid all of these things like the plague, because even if they arent it, youll feel a hell of a lot better anyway.
I know, because I suffered from stomach ulcers and depression for 8 years before I discovered it was from my daily mountain dew.
