If there seems to be more sand around the area then your comfortable with I'd take a cloth and dampen it with peroxide and lightly dab the area and see if that loosen the sand. You'll be safe using the peroxide. But to be on the safe side I'd call the vet and let him know what happened and tell him you cleaned the area with peroxide and see what he says. He's the only one with the best answer. Good luck

As with the others, watch to make sure it's doesn't become swollen or red. As long at he doesn't start really licking at it and it doesn't look irritated it should be alright.
And I just have to add this cause I've never heard of it before. Staples? Like, medical stainless steel staples? For a nueter? why didn't they just use self disolving sutures? I mean if it works it works, great. I've just never seen a nueter done with staples before, always sewn up with sutures. Either way he should be alright. I would just recommend not taking to him the beach again until he's healed up, that way he can enjoy the water and the sand without you worrying he'll get sick. ^_^

If you've removed all you can leave it at that, you don't want to open the scab. Just wait until he leaves the vet with the staples out so he can get cleaned fully, but if it becomes irritated before they get out take him there, good luck.

Don't put anything on your dog's skin unless your vet tells you to. Dog's can not use many products people use. They have a different skin pH-which is why there are special shampoos and soaps for dogs. Like others have suggested, keep an eye on the incision and report to the vet if it looks irritated.

keep an eye on it until you take it to the vet. if it gets swollen, call the vet immediately but since you've brushed and cleaned it, it should be ok until the staples are removed

You can use hydrogen peroxide to clear up any bacteria. It's important that the sand is away from his laceration so make sure it is all wiped away. Then apply neosporin to the wound. Watch for inflammation, seepage, swelling, and anything abnormal. It sounds like he'll be fine but if you see anything change have your vet look at it.

I would just wipe it with peroxide and put some Neosporin on it.It really should be OK. I've trapped feral cats and had them spayed or neutered, and they are released the next day,and none of them had any complications.I think your pup will be fine.

If it seesm swollen or red you can use an antibiotic or sum peroxide just as you would on yourself. If it still seems to be bothering him take him in to the vet. Good Luck

You could wash it with some water, but not rub it, just throw the water on it with the shower. But you must ask the vet about it, if he has said that he must not get wet. Anyway, only wet if the wound is closed, i mean one week after the surgery.

you can put him in a warm bath and soak off the sand a little betodine solution will help the healing process, under no cercumstances should you use peroxide as it tends to close the wound around the staples and makes them harder to remove
