So glad you asked this question, tho I am deeply saddened by your sons injuries. Praise the Lord that he is ok now. His angel was with him, protecting him, no doubt about it. We must remember to always pray for our children and our grandchildren, that they stay in the protection of GOD.
Now to your question....
Human life is a gift from God, absolutely. ONe to be treasured and cherished. All life matters to God, I said ALL LIFE. WE arent to take the life of our disabled or older ppl, nor we we to end a pregnancy and kill that baby. That baby is alive and growing, we know that, and it has human DNA, they can even test that from inside the womb. It is a baby Human being. PERIOD. SUicide is wrong also, as you end your own life. Only God has the power to give life or take it away. Suicide is MURDER. So is abortion. And helping ppl to die as Dr. Kevorkian did as also murder. If someone wants to do it, maybe we cant stop them, but we sure dont help them to do it. WHen God wants them to die, He will call them home. All life is precious to God, and those that take it have to sit before GOd in judgment, just a place I wouldnt thin k they would want to be in after taking a life.
I lost my son at age 10 to a rare type of cancer for a little child. Docs told me its usually for old men and in the back of the head, he had brain cancer. My sons was on the side. But even tho God took him, he spared him pain as I had prayed for that. But God was able later to show our famlily why HE took my son early, to protect him from things that were coming out about his very own father, that would hurt him so much. God does know what He is doing all of the pain. YEP. We should treasure all of life. Even the little retarded child, he has much to give in love, incredible love and just being. God loves us all just the same, and ppl with disabled children will quite frequently tell you just how much they have learned about life from having that child. IT teaches us real unconditional love. Isnt that what God called us to do. In society today, unless you are youthful, healthy, much personality and having whatever the latest IN thing is, that you have no value. Just being has value as you are a gift from God. And, if you can love, you have it all.
Blood sins such as abortion and murder will destroy a nation. Look where we are today. all the violence, murder, rape, all of it. When we took prayer from schools, ok'd abortion and homosexuality, we abandoned God, and slowly He will abandoned the whole world, except for His true children that love Him and obey Him. This is a wake up call to all of us. Look up. Loook up to Jesus, Run to Him today ITs not too late folks. Give Him all of your heart and receive the love and forgivness He gives freely to you, and be in a committed relationship with Him thru love and obedience. There is no other way folks. Look Up. Stand. Make your decision soon as Jesus is coming soon, and we must choose Him before we die or He comes again to take us home.
Great question sir. Sorry to ramble on some. But, this is passion for God and its passion for me. Human life is so precious. How dare anyone think they have a right to end it. All life is precious to God. BE good to the animals too. Every good thing is a gift from God. Cherish it, treasure it, you never know how longyou cn hold on to it.
Remember, God loves us all so much that He is eager to forgive and give you a whole new start. Just ask Him NOW.
So much to celebrate. oh yes. passion for Jesus? YEP.

A 'given' is something on which we have a claim or a right Gift on the other hand is, on which we have no claim.I don't think a Life wholly fits in to either of these categories.Nether it can be said to be a combination of both in real terms.So,apart from being a biological process, a Life has to be much more than a given or a gift. Some may even call it a 'mission' but in the final analysis,we can only categorize life with respect to the aim purpose,functions or any such objectivity assigned to it.A life,as such,means a different thing to different people and shall continue to be so in the future.

I don't think it was a gift because there is nothing to give it as a gift. That being said, no matter the reason (or lack thereof) I am grateful for having the opportunity to experience life. I express my thankfulness in trying to be a positive influence in the lives of all the people who are in or pass through my life.

It's a given in that its appearance on earth was beyond conscious control. To the extent that first instance of life was a molecule that came about through the laws of nature alone, and because the conditions were right, life was inevitable. A wise conscious creature might look around at the boundless suffering that sustains itself in the name of passing on a genome and choose not to continue this random tragedy that is life...or maybe its just me. But a gift? Hardly. What an awful gift that would be.

I wouldn't mind being some kind of plant that blooms in the summer and lives a few summers instead. It seams relaxing. No thoughts just sunshine and water. Human life on the other hand is a chore, and you have to live with other humans and some of them ask really terrible questions and I have this human impulse to answer them anyway. But anyway, no one knows the real answer to this question. I'm not even sure what you're asking.
Gift?

Gift! Every time I look at my son I think of the wonderful gift God has given me (even when he's being not-so-good :D).

+Yes Life is a gift given by God
many dont realise this. God open their eyes of understanding. Be of good courage my friend, God definitely has a plan in your childs life. Bring him up in Godly ways.
1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;...

It is definitely a gift. That is why we can't waste it on foolishness, and we can't presume to be able to waste someone else's life, just because it inconvenience's us.

Human life is a given. A fact. It's up to us to decide what to do with that given fact. Do we enjoy it? Do we use it to help others? Do we use it to gather wealth to ourselves at the expense of those less fortunate? Do we use it to control others, tell them how to think and act and what to believe? Do we use it to be a blessing to others, or to glorify ourselves and our personal gods or God? Good question!
