Right. We should get rid of the CIA, this countries intelligence agency. That has to be the most asinine thing I've heard yet. As for the Special Forces, I don't think the pending declassification of mission documents is justification for eliminating them. What exactly are you getting at?

Well first of all you need to understand that the CIA and the "Special Forces" are two entierly diffrent entities.

The "Special Forces" are a millitary group under the command of the Chief of Staff.

The CIA is under the command of the Justice Department.

I know people who are part of the special ops group. I know that they are patriots and care for the United States in a way that most people dont comprehend.

I have no knowledge of the CIA but I suspect they are patriots as well.

You reference activities of both parties in the viet nam era. As such I will give you the benifit of the doubt that you witnessed things there that you found objectionable.

It is well known that both the CIA and the Special Forces engaged in covert ops in the Vietnam conflict. However I would postulate that the individual teams that percicuted these acts were doing so because they thought they were promoting the American concept of Democracy.

Yes they did things that were moraly wrong. Yes they killed innocents. Yes they commited atrocities.

However these were men at war, and they thought they were doing right, by the best measure they had.

One of the reasons we were hit on 911 is because the budgets for intelligence had been slashed and the rules of engagement had changed. The CIA was no longer allowed to deal with nefarious characters. Mother Theresa does not have any inside info on terrorist activities only shady characters do.

Due to the nature of the threats we are facing Special Forces will not be eliminated but they will be forced to expand.

War and Intelligence gathering are not pretty but political correctness in these matters is a suicide pact.

No. The CIA and special forces serve a role, you may believe that they are not doing that well, but I'm sure you agree that the role needs to be filled.

Should they be eliminated because of the things they've done? No, they are completely different agencies. I would say hardly anyone who worked for them in Nam, still work for them.

And what do the people in the CIA now or the Special forces now, have to do with what went on then ?

That would be like saying, we just found out your dad committed a crime 40 years ago, so we wanna put you in prison.

HELL NO!!!! With the new "War on Terror", it be really stupid to eliminate them. The whole world saw what they both can do in Afghanistan. We are fighting a war were the CIA and Special Forces are one of the most important key players, and we cannot afford to loose them.

The Military and CIA have done some shady and despicable things in the past, that is known, but getting rid of them is like cutting off your arms and legs. You still need them and they still have an important role.

Don't think so.
They were the shepherd of the fields.
To see that living human kind do not mess up the fields out there for the good of mankind.
They watch the fields while we sleep at night.

Are you just stupid, or did you go to school for it. All our enemies have the equivalent, and just because you and some of your misinformed friends don't know the value of these organizations for our freedoms doesn't make them wrong.
Just stay in the sand box for now and don't get hurt.
