What do you think of it?

It is sad that many Christians do not know that Jesus, peace be upon him, holds a very high position within Islam. Unlike Orthodox Judaism, Islam considers Jesus to be the promised Messiah, a word from God, born of the Virgin Mary to bring a new covenant to the people of Israel.

Nevertheless, the Quran, the main book in Islam, leaves no room to accept concepts developed by Church theologians after the departure of Jesus, such as the sonship of Jesus (accepted at the Council of Nicaea on May 20, 325) or the idea of adding the Holy Spirit as the "third head" for God (developed as the concept of the Trinity in the Constantinopolitan Creed of 381). In fact both concepts (the sonship of Jesus and the Trinity) tend to negate many clear verses in the Old and New Testament.

As a child and growing up, in a religious Episcopalian family, I could not make myself pray to Jesus, God bless him and grant him peace. Why couldn't we pray directly to God?

I wondered about stories in the Bible. For example, how could a prophet of God get drunk and sleep with his daughters? How could a prophet of God have his subordinate killed so that he could marry the subordinate's wife, whom he had seen bathing naked on a rooftop? How could a prophet of God offer his wife to a king in order to gain political concessions?

When I read the Holy Qur'an, I found that it differed from the Bible in the exact matters which disturbed me in the latter.

So few Christians have read the entire Bible. It would really help Christians to understand Islam (not to mention Christianity) if they actually read the entire Bible and then the Qur'an.

I wondered about the verses in the Gospel in which Jesus (God bless him and grant him peace)told his companions that another teacher was coming after him, whom he called "the Spirit of Truth." Jesus (God bless him and grant him peace) said that the new teacher "will not speak of himself, but that which he hears, that will he speak, and he will show you things to come."

When I learned about Islam, I saw for myself that this Biblical passage described Prophet Muhammad (God bless him and grant him peace) accurately. Fifteen years before he received the mantle of prophethood, he was known in Makkah as "Al-Amin", or "The Truthful One." He was the person people consulted when they had serious problems. He was the person to whom people entrusted their valuables for safekeeping. When two tribes were on the verge of fighting each other, he negotiated a peace between them. When the revelations began, he taught the Holy Qur’an exactly as it was revealed to him by the Angel Gabriel (God bless them both and grant them peace.) (Prophet Muhammad’s (God bless him and grant him peace) personal teachings are called the “hadith”, and are completely separate from the Holy Qur’an)

When I read the Holy Qur'an, I discovered the truth about Prophets Lot, David, and Abraham, God bless them and grant them all peace.

At that time, I didn't know any Muslims at all, but, after reading and comparing the Bible and the Qur'an, I knew I that I was Muslim.

It is true that those whom Allah guides can never go astray.

By the way,
"Allah" is the Arabic name of the One True God; the term is used by Arabic-speaking Muslims, Christians, and Jews. The Arabic Bible and the Holy Qur'an both call God, "Allah," which means, literally, "The God." The term "god" has been applied to minor deities as well as to the Almighty. "Allah" has never been used for anyone except the One, True, God.

I know that there are many proofs in Quran shows that Islam holds a high possession for Jesus may Peace Be Upon Him.

1. Virgin Mary has a whole "Sourah" (I don't know the exact meaning in the Bible but I think a chapter is the same) even though Mohammad (PBUH)'s wives didn't have the same attention.

2. Jesus (PBUH) was mentioned 25 times whereas Mohammad (PBUH) is only 5 times.

It is forbidden in Islam to make fun of any of God's prophets & messangers including Muhammad (PBUH) & Isa (Jesus) PBUH. We believe that Jesus is the only prophet of God that is did not die & is still alive to come back and walk the earth again. We do not believe that he is the son of God because God mentioned in his Holy Qur'an:

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

[112:1] Proclaim, "He is the One and only GOD.
[112:2] "The Absolute GOD.
[112:3] "Never did He beget. Nor was He begotten.
[112:4] "None equals Him."

and about the idea of the Holy Spirit, Allah said:

[5:73] Pagans indeed are those who say that GOD is a third of a trinity. There is no god except the one god. Unless they refrain from saying this, those who disbelieve among them will incur a painful retribution.

No, I never wondered that. It was a cultural thing. And perhaps you should read on in 1 Corinthians, starting with verse 13: Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. And the idea of women covering themselves was not necessarily for every day use, but while they were praying. And Paul was saying that just her long hair can be used as a covering. Yes, I'm aware that some denominations still use head coverings. That's between them and God. I feel no guilt for the way I dress, because I do dress modestly.

Islam makes it an article of faith to believe in Jesus peace be upon him.
The Prophet Muhammad said:
"Whoever believes that there is none worthy of worship but God, alone without partner, that Muhammad is His messenger, that Jesus is the servant and messenger of God, His word which He bestowed on Mary and a spirit proceeding from Him, and that Paradise and Hell are true, shall be received by God into Heaven." (A Hadith from the collections of al Bukhari)

Its a shame people dont even know that we do, infact believe in Jesus.
People should go and talk to Muslims, maybe even read the Quran, instead of listening to the garbage the TV and their redneck friends tell them.

But yes, Im Muslim and Jesus is not the son of God, but he was a Prophet.

The fact that Jesus is the son of God was established long before the Council of Nicea.
It was established while Jesus was alive.
(John 6:66-69) Owing to this many of his disciples went off to the things behind and would no longer walk with him. 67 Therefore Jesus said to the twelve: “YOU do not want to go also, do YOU?” 68 Simon Peter answered him: “Lord, whom shall we go away to? You have sayings of everlasting life; 69 and we have believed and come to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

THE [ singular] HOLY ONE OF GOD...

Not just a prophet like claimed by Islam, respected though he is.

There are many "sects" of Islam just like Christianity. I am a Christian, but have studied some Islam. From the ones I have listened to the Muslims believe that Jesus is a great prophet just like Mohammad (PBUH).

Assalamu Alaikum! In the name of Allah (SWT), Most Gracious, Most Merciful!

I agree: It is sad that Christians, but not all, are clueless as to where Jesus (PBUH) stands in our religion! Not only is their ignorance sad; but it can become irritating, too, when Christians sometimes question us: "Do you even believe in Jesus?" (while acting as if they are sure that we do not; therefore, we are the scum of the Earth!)—when, in fact, we do—only Jesus' place in Islam is different than that of his place in the Christian religion.
