Yes, the Westboro Baptist Church offends most Christians. Because what they are preaching is not even close to what the Bible says. What amazes me is when Fred Phelps claims that John 3:16 supports God's love for only a few people. Fred has the Bible training but has hardened his heart towards God and God's love. Fred is consumed by hate and is not preaching God's word.
Please don't confuse Fred as some kind of spokesperson for the Baptist church, Fundamentalism or Christianity. He has no clue about what a relationship is with a loving God.
I personally think that Fred is a false prophet sent to mislead people into hating Christianity.

They are not Christian but they still offend me. Why are you directing this at Christians? It is disingenuous and stupid to honestly believe they are Christian just because they say they are. To be Christian means to follow Jesus and his teachings, something the Westboro church obviously does not do. If I call myself an environmentalist but drive a 12 cylinder car without a catalytic converter, fly my personal jet to the grocery store and pour oil into the ocean am I truly an environmentalist. Of course not. Christianity like being an environmentalist is about actions not just a word. If this is why you choose to live a life without religion I truly feel sorry for you.

They are a group of people who hate.
The word Hell doesn't even appear in the origional scriptures and I suspect that they know that deep down. It was mistranslated in the 5th centurey purposefully to use it as a control mecognism.
I am a Christian, and I don't follow a religion. Pure Christianity is not a religion, but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Yes, they offend me but we just have to pray for them, They think they are doing Gods work but they are just causing alot of confusion. I've wondered what is wrong with these people, they make the Christians look worse than we already do. They are hypocritical and will curse you out in a minute, when confrunted about the fact that God showed love and asked why they didn't, they had nothing to say. Its basically a group of people in the same family.

The Westboro Baptists church is taken under consideration one of the main appropriate motives a good number of persons dislike Christianity. They %. and choose what aspects of the Bible are to be believed. they actually anger me as properly. i'm no longer a Christian in any respect nonetheless, i'm a mix of Paganism, non secular satanism, buddhism and shintoism. I easily have examine and studied the bible myself, in view that i like to talk and study approximately faith and the westboro church has a greater precise description of god than maximum christians. God does punish and god does hate. It says so interior the bible. They have been on condition that area appropriate, however the bible additionally says it extremely is no longer for guy to choose others and to love thy neighbor. subsequently the westboro church is extremely like maximum christians, hypocrites. they are only mean hypocrites. No offense to christians meant by means of this answer. i understand your ideals, only choose greater human beings had greater expertise of what the bible says.

Yes they do. If this is why you reject religion, you must be quite shallow, and afraid to read what the Bible really says. The Westboro Baptists are no where near being mainstream.

The Phelps family is the most outrageous group of Loonies in this country! Even I would not put them in the same catagory as Christians!
I actually feel sorry for the Baptists because they use that label!
They are just a bunch of sick creeps, nothing more.

Romans 1:26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things Deserve Death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

They offend everyone, including conservative Christians. That's their reason for being, and what gives them a sense of fulfillment.
You need to understand the psychology of sociopathy and narcissism to make sense of them.
Ironically, the more they are despised, the more content they are. It just makes them feel even more special.

Try similar questions...we all know about them...or should.
And not only Christians should be offended but any good human being should.
Isn't it just common courtesy to NOT protest a funeral and spit out vile poison like "God hated your son!!!" into grieving mother's faces???
