I am not sure what you are asking here but yes, If for you financial gain is the most important part of a career then you should make it the most important consideration, and viceversa.
When deciding about your own life/career, in a free country you usually try and do what you reckon it is best for you.

I would say, yes financial gain is a very important thing to consider. I have three things that I always consider: 1. Future employment/advancement, 2. Money, 3. Happiness.
If you are not being paid well and what you are worth, eventually you will become less and less happy with the way the job is going. Especially if you cannot pay the bills and still have money left over at the end of the month. When you choose a career, make sure there's room for advancement, especially with educational goals. This usually means that there will also be room for financial growth as well.
There's nothing that always irked me more than people who claim to be happy with their jobs, and then tell me their life story about how they won't be able to pay the rent. Don't be like that!

NO.
You'll be spending 1/3 of your life doing whatever it is you choose as a career (assuming you get a job in the field)
Do you want to spend 1/3 of your life doing something you hate?
The main thing you want to do when choosing a career is find something you'll enjoy. When you do go to school and get a job, you'll probably realize that you'd rather make less money and enjoy your job than make a lot of money and hate every second of your time at work.

In my opinion, choosing a career in what you are most interested in is the most important consideration.

No. I think the most important consideration should be will you be happy with your career choice. No matter how much money you make if you don't love your job you won't be happy.

Most important is loving what you do. When you do something you're passionate about, inevitably you'll do well at it (and make more money). Money is important, but what's more important is doing something that satisfies your soul. What could be worse than being miserable at work just because you want to make a lot of money?
Find a job that you'll love and do it with a passion.

It should be in the top couple of reasons. You may need to elimiate a few because of things like them being illgal, immoral or dangerous or if you would hate every day of your career.
If you faint at the sight of blood you wouldn't be a good midwife so don't try. If you have no talent don't be a artist.
