DO NOT go with a "cheap" wedding photographer for your wedding. The only thing that will last from that special day is the photos. You'll want only the best. Save on something else - NOT the photos.
Be sure to see samples from the photographer before choosing.

maybe contact the local college and see if you can speak with someone in the photography dpt... ask if they can inquire of the students if anyone wants to do it for you... you can meet them. see their work and set a price
