Do you recommend any specific brand and model? I'm interested in an LED, I tried that in the academy and loved it. Any suggestions?

Any StreamLite rechargeable is the best. They have the best beam and just overall work great.
I have been carrying them for my entire career.
My fist one lasted about 15 years.... till I lost it. Have had my second one every since.

A six D cell mag light is the best. Life time warranty and great for wacking people in the chins. I've been using mine for 25 years.

My husband uses a Streamlight Stinger LED and really loves it. I don't know where you live, but if you're in Minnesota, you should check out Streicher's.

I am carrying a streamlight twintask 2L. Its a really good little light and has 3 different light settings. Xenon, white, and LED lighting.

they have tons - high lumes (did i spell that wrong lol)
my bf has one that has 3 settings- i call them low beam high beam and strobe.
if he was awake i could ask him which one he got...
