The only reason why the hair on the upper lip appears darker and thicker is because when you shave it off, it grows back with a flat top on it rather than a natural growth that's pointed. It's not true that it grows thicker. It just seems like it. You can wax it but another thing you can do is bleach it. Bleaching the hair will be less visible and it won't grow out spikey.

The 'thicker and darker' bit is bunk - the hair feels stubbly after you shave it, but doesn't come back thicker. Sometimes the 'crop' just improves on it's own.
I have several friends who get their lips waxed, and they always look great. Be sure to ask for toner afterwards instead of moisturizer, so you don't break out. You can use your moisturizer when you go home.

Your not stupid :P

You can go to your local Chemist, Pharmacy, Drugstore and ask if they have any facial bleaching kits.
This bleachs the hair.

If you get your upper lip waxed it does not make it thicker or darker. Thats shaving. The results are good when done right. And is fairly cheap.

Hope it helps

Waxing won't make it thicker or darker. You can also try laser hair removal. That's what I did and I am very pleased with the results.

No waxing usually thins it out because you are pulling it at the root instead of shaving half off. You can also buy some bleaching cream to help lighten it.

waxing or threading will make it lighter
if you can afford it get laser treatment it works wonders on dark hair
bleaching works for light hair , not thick or long , you can try it but waxing or threading is the next cheap alternative ( compared to laser treatment)

You can have electrolysis done. It's a mild shock to the hair matrix and causes the hair to fall out of the folicle. Treatments are in the $3-$5k ballpark, and I heard that after a few treatments the hair never grows back!

listen girly. i have the same problem, and the only solution to gettnig rid of the hair is to wax it. it hurts like a ***** but it gets thinner everytime you wax it. mine's almost gone. do NOT shave it or you'll grow it in soo thick. not good

waxing lasts alot longer than shaving, so when it does start to come back, just wax it again. waxing lasts a really long time usually.
