I find using bread soaked in milk and torn up into very small pieces most helpful in keeping the meatballs from falling apart. Breadcrumbs just don't work for me.

I use anything I have handy. Breadcrumbs, fresh bread, saltine crackers, Ritz. One of the secrets is to not over mix the mixture and to season well. Hamburger, egg, salt, pepper, garlic power, some type of bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce and a good dollop of yellow mustard. And bake, don't fry. Yum! I made about 50 pounds of these one week every summer for VBS. There are never any left.

I like to use breadcrumbs. You can dry your own bread and then crush it up, that works just the same. I dont like to use torn up pieces of bread because it makes the texture different when its all done.

None of those.
Try using a small, peeled white potato. Grate it into your meatball mix. I can promise you that your meatballs will be light and hold together well. Breadcrumbs or bread make them too "solid".

I like breadcrumbs. Then the texture is more like all meat. I don't like to bite into a chunk of bread in my meatball.

Believe it or not I use uncooked white rice. It will hold the meat together nicely and soak up any fat from the meat plus give the meat some bulk. Don,t get carried away with the rice. About 1/3 C. per 3# hamburger.

50-50 either way. I prefer bread crumbs but not the kind you buy....u never know how old they are.
Any stale bread, rolls or bagels I let dry out completely and then put them thru the food processor and make my own. Keep covered and it lasts a year.

I'd go with the bread crumbs. Torn up chunks of bread sounds too big, you'd really notice it.
