Oh, don't worry. Most schools don't actually make you RUN the whole thing. You're just supposed to make it as fast as you can. Many people don't care, or can't run fast or for a long time, and it's not a big deal. They make it out to be, but it really isn't. I promise that others will have a worse time of it than you will. As long as you can do at least like a 13 minute mile, you'll be fine. They grade easy and don't expect an awful lot of you in 6th grade.

The idea is you're supposed to get faster with practice.
Don't worry. There will be plenty of kids who won't meet minimum standards when school starts. You'll probably be faster than many of them.
PE is a really good thing if it helps you life a healthier life and teaches things you can take through your life to be physically fit. I didn't like PE in school, but learned while in military service that exercise and running are good for me and will help me live longer and better.
Use this as an opportunity to better prepare yourself for a healthy life. Compete when you can and enjoy victories when you get them.
Some day you'll be as old as I am and if you are healthier because you learned some useful things in PE you should be be as grateful as I am for that little bit of pushing back in middle school.
Good luck!

Dont be embarassed, if you cant do it then so be it. When i was in middle school 2 years ago, we had to run around the gym 5 mins straight and each time we made it around the teacher would add a minute. So when i ran for 5 mins straight he would add 1 more minute and i would have to run 6 minutes the next time.
I'm a real big dude and i made it to 9 mins. I'm really fat lol but i almost died hahha

Don't be stressed. running is great for your body and will keep you healthy and active. as for the actual running part, as long as you're not lazy, you sohuld be fine. if there was anythign that pissed me off in PE class when I was in middle school, it was running around the course sweating while a couple of girls just walked around the course and chatted. keep your chin up and try your best, and don't be like one of the girls mentioned above. I used to hate running, after a couple self-motivated jogs I actually like the self-competition.

One KM that all!?? Your lucky. We're doing 3 KM next year (gr.8) and I find it really easy! Just jog/run with someone the same pase as you and you'll be fine! Also good to wear proper shoes.

dont feel embaressed or nervous...some people are faster than others! maybe you will make it in time, your never know! think positive. and if it REALLY bothers you, just try practicing running and maybe you can build up your strength. believe me, i felt the same way, except for i did ended up being slower .... but i ended up being okay with it! dont worry.

just do your best. if you're really nervous about it, try to talk to your gym coach about it. I'm sure they could give you some encouragment or may have something else for you to do.
