Christians are people whose religion is Christianity. The thing that distinguishes Christianity from all other world religions is a focus on Jesus Christ, more specifically as he is described in the Gospels (and I say the Gospels because ultimately the rest of the New Testament is based on that).
And don't fall for the ridiculous semantic arguments by the too-proud-for-label types, who say things like "I don't have a religion, I have a relationship with Jesus Christ". It's still a religion.
Are there people who seem to only believe in about 20% of some religion or another, but still take up the given label? Yes. Though this begs the question of how religious one has to be in order have some sort of religion. Regardless, I say that if you find yourself only believing in 20% of what your religion teaches, it's time to look for something new.

The Greek suffix -ianos originally applied to slaves. It came to denote the adherents of an individual or party. A Christian is a slave or adherent of Christ (Acts 11:26) (1 Peter 4:16).
There are many "professing" Christians in the world today. Anyone can make that claim verbally but not be one spiritually. Then again, they may be immature, carnal Christians. If you are a Christian, pray for them.

yes, this is the problem that christians have. Many people who claim to be christians do not live it out in there everyday lives. Which makes for people who are confused and look down upon christians for not following what they say they believe. Thats hard because not all christians are like that but the people that are make the christian group look like hypocrite's, and that seems to be what your coworkers are doing.
im a teenage Christian and we talk a lot about how important it is to live out our lives as jesus lived out his otherwise people will wonder what you are wondering now...how these people say they are christian but dont seem to be
hope that helps

A Christian is a person who adheres to Christianity, a monotheistic religion centered on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as presented in the New Testament. Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God and the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament.

Just because someone is a Christian, doesn't mean they are perfect. It is possible that they haven't realized that their actions are wrong in the sight of God, or it could be that even though they do realize they are doing the wrong thing, they haven't worked through how to stop and start doing the right thing. Btw, it really isn't up to you to decide how they should act, it is between them and their Creator.

Well, the Bible says you will know a Christian by their fruits (how they conduct themselves). If they don't act like a Christian, they aren't strong in their faith. Keep in mind of course, that no one is perfect, but people who claim to be Christians and act completely otherwise give Christianity a bad name.
"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today
Is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips
Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle.
That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."

To be like Christ. Actions speak louder than words.
Bible says if any man is in Christ Jesus he is a new creature the old way of doing things comes to an end, and a new way begins.
Sounds like someone claims more than they actually posses.

Sometimes we as Christians can become far to critical of one another. What one See's as sinful another is not convicted of that behavior.
First of all it is not our place to judge. The Judgment comes from the father who is in Heaven. This is a direct quote from our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Second many people I have meet through out the years have called themselves Christian because they believe that Jesus is Lord.
Third maybe you could invite them to your church, in case they are not in a Bible teaching Church.
