I got a wisdom tooth pulled 2 wks ago and it still hurts...is that normal?

Well, I should have been a little more clear. It doesn't really hurt, it's more of a discomfort. It is absolutely not dry socket. My mom had that and it's like a zillion times worse than my pain. But there is this strange white thing in there. I was told by the dentist that it is skin forming back...anyone ever heard of that?????

It sounds relatively normal... it took about 2 weeks before it subsided for me. I was also swollen like a chipmunk.=P It also depends whether or not your roots were long, whether there were any complications with your teeth or during in the procedure, and I guess how you've been treating it. If it persists, contact your surgeon

Mine was really bad from about four hours afterwards to three days afterward. After that I would get an occasional strong ache. It got a lot less frequent as time went on, but I encountered these for about four months afterward.

I thought the taste of the gauze and the first day of pain was by far the worst of it.

i've had my upper 2 pulled, years ago.
hurt for almost a month... problem lies in the hole closing up.. if you chew on that side or get anything in the crater you irritate it.
worse if they do surgery to get them out and you end up with stitches... like i am having on the 28th. joy!
just keep food away from that side of your mouth and a bottle of tylenol rapid release handy!
