Like if the two of you really hit it off, etc.

I believe in love at first sight, but I also think it takes time to get to know someone. I pretty much feel its all in the heart and the amount of chemistry you may have with someone. As for myself I am in a fairly new relationship of a year and we are still getting to know each other every single day. When I first met him and he swept me off my feet, I felt in my heart that I wanted to marry this guy. Your best bet is not to rush anything and just things fall into place. Also its important not to smother a man because that will make him run the other way. Have fun and just go with the flow.

No. On a first meeting it's probably all lust and infatuation and the thrill of meeting someone new who's "interesting."

Real relationships require compatibility on a deeper level, and that means really getting to know the person so you know what they like, don't like, want out of life, etc. You can't do that on a first meeting.

I don't believe in love at first sight at all. Sure, there are people who have instant sparks and seem to be totally compatible from the first time they lay eyes on each other, but that's just the power of probability. If you meet enough people, sooner or later you'll run into one who's very, very compatible with you.

But you still have to go through the process of discovering whether that compatibility is at the surface level or deep enough to make a relationship work in the long term.

Some people think they can, and that's why we have a high divorce rate. Once reality sets in and they realized they jumped into a relationship when they knew nothing about the other person, they want to run away.

I definitely think so. Of course, that's no excuse for taking the physical aspects of a relationship too quickly, but, yes, you can have that instant connection to a soul mate. I think there's someone out there for everyone. If you've found that person, then I wish you the best and am very happy for you.

My husband tells me to this day that the moment he saw me he said to himself he is going to marry this girl...even if he is just giving me a load of crap, it means a lot to me. I have to tell you that I felt the same way...never had I felt the same way about a man that I met before. We met, and I just felt like no one else was around and it was just us...it was wonderful.....we have been together seven years!
