I was wondering if masturbating is a sin and if it says that it is in the Bible, can anyone tell me?

Genesis 38:9
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
This passage is often used against masturbation. Taken in context Onan was disobeying God and was punished.
10: And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.
In my opinion it is not the act of masturbation which is the sin, it is the thoughts that accompany the act which may or may not be sinful. Inappropriate fantasies often lead to inappropriate acts.

It depends on which denomination you follow.
Historically, it was considered a sin because many people thought that males were born with a set amount of sperm. Thus, if you masturbated, you were "wasting" it.

Yes, it is.
Masturbation is totally selfish. Anything that weakens our body's ability to overcome the flesh is sin.
Contrast that with appropriate relations within marriage - our actions are for expressing love and caring in a totally committed relationship. When expressed as a part of a loving relationship, it lifts and strengthens the marriage bond.
Jesus Christ was our model for how to have relationships with others: Every action, every word was to lift and help others. Even His rebukes of the hypocrites could have helped and lifted them if they had humbled themselves and repented.
Selfishness destroys. Giving makes us divine.

Masturbation is a sin because it has to do with "lusts of the flesh," as well as "fornication." We are told in scripture that the heart of sexuality is to become "one flesh" with your God-given spouse, within the sacred confines of marriage. If you are doing sexual things to yourself, it is sort of like you are fornicating with yourself. You are not having sex in love, within marriage, but in an unnatural state. It does not honor how God created sex, and it does not bring you closer to God. It weakens your faith and separates you from the truth. However, God also knows your desires, and is strong enough and more than willing to help you overcome temptations. So even though it is definitely a sin, the God of all grace and compassion sent His son Jesus to save us from our own flesh. Trust in Him.

Well, in my view, the bible is hooey, so no, it isn't a sin, and there's nothing wrong with it.
