Why does your body throw up alcohol (i'm not talking about forcing it yourself). Why can't it just be urinated out of your system? What is it about alcohol that 'upsets' your body?

You can be poisoned by too much alcohol. Your body is rejecting anymore of it.

Alcohol depresses nerves that control involuntary actions such as breathing, the heart beat, and the gag reflex (prevents choking). A fatal dose of alcohol will eventually stop these functions. After the victim stops drinking, the heart keeps beating, and alcohol in the stomach continues to enter the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body.

You are all wrong because youre regurgitating what you have heard but do not understand. Vomiting after drinking is a form of motion sickness. Alcohol weighs less then water and your inner ear register mininisule changes in your hydration levels. The more you drink, the more skewed your BAC is. This is why closing your eyes, drinking heavy water, and lying down can help with the dizzyness, vomiting, and other associated symptoms of gross consumption. Dont believe me? Heavy drinking results in your eyes moving down and to the right when intoxicated. This is what police look for when at a stop (as well as your pupils dialating). Heavy water balances out equilibrium and when consumed simultaneously with alcohol, the drinker does not get dizzy, vomit, or display other signs of motion sickness. This also explains why, even in the morning after, you may still feel dizzy or feel "heavy". Your balance is still disrupted. Ive run out of room to further explain this.

When you consume alcohol, it starts being absorbed into your body right away, (from your mouth, to your stomach, intestines, etc.). Remember, the job of your digestion system process is to try to absorb all of the nutrients from whatever you eat or drink...even alcohol. When your body starts processing alcohol, you will start to have a measurable Blood Alcohol Content, (BAC), and simply said, that results in intoxication or getting drunk. Drinking alcoholic beverages with higher alcohol content and in larger quantities, will increase your BAC more rapidly. The more alcohol that your body absorbs, the higher your BAC will be. When your body fully metabolizes the alcohol in your system, (or fully processes and eliminates the alcohol), from your body, the BAC lessens. If any alcohol has already been absorbed by your body, a BAC will be present until the alcohol is completely metabolized. Vomiting, will not change that. What vomiting will do, is prevent additional alcohol from being absorbed into your blood...your body can't process what isn't there...thus preventing the absorption of additional alcohol. However, you should know that even if you vomit after consuming alcohol, if any of the alcohol you consumed was already in the process of your body's digestive system process, that alcohol, will not be vomited because it was already used up by your body and in the process of creating a Blood Alcohol Content...thus, intoxicating you. This process will take several minutes for you to actually "feel it," so, if alcohol has already been absorbed by your body, vomiting will not stop what has already been started and you can feel drunk later on after vomiting, even if you didn't feel drunk when you vomited. Hope that helps answer your question!

Alcohol is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the stomach and small intestine, where the liver takes approx 30 minutes to process one ounce of alcohol. Until the liver has time to break down all of the alcohol, it continues to circulate in the bloodstream, affecting all the organs and once it reaches the brain, you begin to "feel" drunk. Knowing this, I always eat before drinking and have a glass of water for every two drinks. The food slows the absorbtion and the water dilutes it. Plus, I find that going to the bathroom often sobers me up a lot quicker and I don't have hangovers in the morning!

It might make you feel better by vomiting but the alcohol is still in your bloodstream. Drinking water and eating can help flush the alcohol out.

Alcohol is a poison. The buzz you get from it is the side effects of the body fighting the poison. If you poison your body enough it tried to purge itself of the poison. So, you barf.
