Surgery is uncomfortable too, eh? I had scoliosis only no one picked up on it when I was young, so now I have constant back pain, really bad posture and I am tired all the time. People think you are less when your posture is bad, it makes you look insecure or dumb.
Can you wear the brace during the day? Usually they say wear it for 16 hours so you can have it off at night. Be glad your parents are willing to care for you, and spend money for your health. Not everyone is so lucky. These new fashions (the handkerchief blouse, tunics etc) are great for over a brace. Wear a seamless tee shirt under it.
Or, it is your choice & your consequence, end up in pain and unable to enjoy life like me. It is your life, but sometimes you have to do things that are uncomfortable to get the best outcome in the long run.
Think it over.---oh, and see if the prosthetist (the brace person) can't make some adjustments to make it more comfortable. Maybe it doesn't really fit. That's a thought...
Honest, the backaches only get worse.

I have scoliosis. I was diagnosed at 13. My curvature is 48 degrees. I never wore a brace as my doctor said that I was almost finished growing and it wouldn't help much. I am now 42 and I am in the same range as I was as a teenager. If you really don't want to wear it, be firm, but be honest with your parents and your doctor. Please note, I had a friend that was required to have surgery because her curvature caused her rib cage to put pressure on her heart. Mine curves in a different way, more like an S shape. So I won't need surgery. Talk to your doctor about your curvature and the pros and cons of the brace. At your age, you should be able to work out a comprimise.

I did the same thing when I was your age. I tried to sleep in my night time brace but it was hot and very uncomfortable. I stopped wearing. I havent had any major problems. My curve has progressed more and I have back pain when I stand or walk a long time. im 25 now. Might have to have surgery if it gets a lot worse but Im not going to unless I just have to. All that is just scary. Its only your decision with what you want to deal with, especially your own body. Dont let anyone make you do anything that you dont want.

A 7-eleven% curve is not going to be the purpose of your again discomfort. I had a seventy two measure curve (18 after surgical procedure) and no discomfort in any respect. I additionally did tough center yoga. Most individuals have a one million-10 measure curve so in the event you had been excused, part your elegance could be too. I could say your great guess could be to speak to a chiropractor approximately it, and no longer your pediatrition. If the crisis is unhealthy adequate, they are going to provide you a referal. A health care professional in your SPINE would write you a reputable excuse. If you're flat footed or when you've got unhealthy knees, it would purpose the crisis. I could spend money on a well pair of jogging footwear and a few arch insoles, due to the fact that that's much more likely the case.

Your parents aren't wasting their money. YOU are wasting their money. Try adjusting to it when you are sleeping, you will get used to it (sister has an uncomfortable brace) because there is an operation where they fuse your spine to kind of fix the scoliosis, so bending down is a no. want dat?

What is the question??
Obviously you need to wear it!!
I am sure it is a lot less uncomfortable than steel rods being shoved down your spine!!
