I know they have those gas masks, but wouldn't the explosion/fire use up all the O2? Do they hold their breath when they jump out of the middle of an inferno?

They have a respirator connected to an 02 tank.
They have to have that to begin with because of the Nitro fumes that gather in the cockpit.

If you're talking drag racing . . . that's not a gas mask . . . it's an O2 mask, delivering oxygen to the driver for the run, should the car go up in flames, the driver has about five minutes to get out of the car, because the O2 tank they're hooked up to only has a five minute life span.

I am a drag racer and I know that when something like that happens, your mind goes blank you dont even breathe you just know what your supposed to do (get out) and because of all they adrenaline you dont even have time to breathe until it's all over
