I got a perm. Get a banana curl perm if you get one. Less damaging and less chance of you hating it. I got mine thinking that it'd be light curls and I ended up getting tight curls. Still looked great. Some hair just doesn't take to it like my friend. It can't hurt to try though. And I ended up brushing my hair out when I was tired of it and got really wavy hair.

you are putting chemicals on your hair so you will have some damage. nothing to worry about. you won't look fried if it's done properly.
you can ask for a body wave perm. they use very large/thick rollers that will give you a looser wave when done.
not a poodle perm if they use small rollers
make sure you go to a good salon to get it done. i went to a place that i thought was ok and ended up with the poodle curl helmet and fried hair...
years later i went to a realllly good salon recommended by lots of ppl and got a great wave...
just remember to condition very well and don't wash it for a few days after getting it done

people still get perms, you just gotta be aware that you will have to keep it up. like, after you get the perm and wait the 24 hours or whatever then you need to wash your hair and condition it like crazy. look for shampoos and conditioners made for treated hair, like perms and such. i think herbal essences has some, and i used their straightening stuff which led me to believe that all their products are good.

I know some people who perm their hair still. I would try using rollers first before frying your hair up.

but not a lot, just condition everyday

Sure they do, everydaay people are getting perms.
They have more gentle ones now than there used to be and for wavy if shouldn't take much. Go for it, no problems.

yeah! I'm getting mine done tomorrow, in a body wave perm.
it will only damage your hair if you don't take care of it afterwards.

yes, I am due for one too. I have to get one once a year! I hate it for 2 weeks, but its fine after that..
