just getting highlights wouldn't make me any happier because i wanted 2 darken my hair (dark brown or black) and then get a lighter color on the tips (green, red, blonde....one of those colors)

I'm not sure why your mom isn't making that choice over your aunt, but that's none of my business. So I'd suggest you AND your mom sit down to talk with her about it.
Maybe if you earned the money to have it done professionally and saved for it (you've already waited a year and being able to put the money aside can show how committed you are) she'd feel better about it. With a professional colour, there is less room for error so that might help her feel more comfortable about it. Home dye jobs often go wrong and you should know a lot about your skin tone so you dont' choose a colour that doesn't suit you. Not everyone can wear copper orange, for example. And not everyone can wear black or blonde, etc. Especially if you're going lighter, you're in for a lot of damage no matter which way you do it. not to mention if you're a dark haired girl going very light, you'll have to have it touched up every couple of weeks which can get damaging and expensive. There is a lot of upkeep with coloured hair often.
Ask your aunt why she feels this way. Ask her for details. Once you know more about her worries, you can start to come up with reasons why her concerns may not be totally valid. This not only shows commitment but maturity too.
Good luck!

There are products such as Clairol's Loving Care, which contain no peroxide or ammonia, and are very gentle to the hair. In fact, after using this product, the hair is in better condition than when you started. And the color is only temporary, usually lasting between six and eight shampoos. So maybe your aunt will be agreeable to that, since it won't cause any permanent damage to your hair, and you won't be stuck with the color forever if you don't like it.

Although it is your Aunts house and you should abide by her rules, it is your hair and if your mother says it is okay then I don't see why there should even be an issue. Your Aunt is right though, dying your hair can be damaging BUT that is only true that after repeated use of hair dyes.
P.S Maybe you should have your mother talk to your Aunt letting her know that she don't care that you dye your hair.

Tell them I quite notion approximately dyeing my hair. And I might like to take a look at a delicate black colour. I've notion lengthy and difficult and that is whatever I quite wish. Plus ur step mother would do it for u (: you gotta quite promote it to them. Just recognise that after ur hair is blk it is difficult to difference the colour except u watch for the blk dye to vanish out. Nothin is ever permeant even supposing it says it's.. I've had blk hair dyed it blonde n it became inexperienced then I bleached it blonde . Then I dyed it darkish plum auburn and it ultimately pale to a mild brownish blonde. But all of the oil remedies stored my hair from detrimental. I'm simply letting u recognise. But well success

well your aunts right. Those hair dyes do damage your hair. Why don't you get highlights? i think those will work...if you want to darken your hair, you should try dyes that are temporary.Permanent and demi-permanent dyes are really harmful and contain ammonia and peroxide, which fry your hair.
I recommend you use Jerome Russell's Temporary highlight spray if you consider doing those highlights.their available in folica.com.There are also natural hair dyes you can do at home and I think they don't damage your hair.

you should look in the colors you want to dye..red,blonde,or brown..don't consider to dye your hair like a shocking color..dye your hair with natural colors.
hope this helps

you didnt say how old you are . it makes a difference . some 10 and 13 you see with dyed hair highlighted hair it does damage your hair and if you start dying yoiur hair young you probably will do all your life. some dyes like black have a high lead content and could cause health problems. how about a new hair cut and be happy with yourself

are you over 18? --- then you have your answer. If not, you should wait anyway because you could damage your hair --- maybe they'd let you do a temporary hair color --- one that washes out in like 6 weeks....
