Wow, they found a legal document that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit at Fort Hood would respond to bombs and explosive devices in the area. Yea, they can do that as a back up to the state and county. They do it everywhere. They still do it. No conspiracy there.

By law the Military CAN NOT be activated to enforce civilian law except as the President of the USA dictates and only in terms of Martial Law. The National Guard on the other hand is only a Federal unit when activated as such , But it is also a tool of the Govern a state in which the unit is assigned and trains. This means that a group of men and women can be assigned to assist in times of State emergency to include performing searches and to a point enforcing state laws. BUT again the Military can not be used as a posse as it was during the early 1800's. But after the Civil War the law was changed because of the problems with "Carpet bagger Politicians" that used the military as a "punishment" for the people of the southern sates after the Civil war. Their is some exceptions in "training" and there is at least one city in the USA that willingly assists the training of military members for special deployments by becoming a training site. Yes the whole city. It isnt illegal, and as long as the rules of engagment for "both sides" are followed. The city has been happy to help.

Exept for Martial Law being declared, the regular military would not be used for such a pupose. However, at the request of the governor of a given state, the state's National Guard units could be called to keep order and conduct such searches as you describe.

Do you remember the armed soldiers at the airports during the weeks following 9/11? Those were National Guard troops.

Um...that was the year 2000 man, just looks like they were getting bored and training before 9-11 happened. If more was to come im sure it would have happened in seven years. Besides the reporter is slanted towards the opinion that our own military is taking over, thats ridiculous.

This happened seven years ago. Despite that short panning of a town hall sign, it looks like a base housing area to me. The narrator doesn't say he was on the scene. He says someone sent him the tape.
Posse Comitatus law prohibits this activity in civilian areas. The Marines, more than any other branch, know the penalties for violating that law. The base commander at Camp Pendleton was relieved of his command in 1976 for sending his M.P.s into town to help local police in Oceanside who were dealing with a near riot on the Oceanside pier.
Now, give us some evidence besides this tape.

It's urban training...they did it in victorville with some Navy Seals...unfortunately no one was told and some armed citizens confronted them when they saw groups carrying assault rifles. A few were arrested but released later and now there is controversy on that sort of training.
There was no announcement to keep people from interfering.

Which is weird considering they have the old George Air Force bas that still has base housing and multitudes of buildings and Ft. Iriwin that has it's own version of urban comabt training. which is also nearby(40miles).
Luckily no one was hurt.

Oh well. I'm glad the military is training for such things. I'd hate for them to be unprepared in a real emergency when we need them.

I think Check Point Charlie was meant, in part, to keep innocent people in East Germany, and not let them leave even if they wanted to. The US doesn't have any equivalent of that.
