seriously go to a professional, because people do it at home and they freak out when it hits orange . Some places might develop more than others, I recomend going to a professional. But if you are truley naturally black go to a sally's store and get a level 6 natural and 40 volume then get a hilighting kit. Good luck. I gaurentee it will end in disaster and you will have to pay someone twice as much to fix it.

You can't dye to a lighter color -- you have to use bleach to lift the existing shade. I would strongly recommend that you go to a salon and have this done professionally, especially since you want highlights. I've seen too many hair disasters on do-it-yourselfers. Dark hair goes through several lightening processes. The first few can produce an unwanted orangey-red. Then you have to use ash toners to get rid of the brassiness. Once you get a professional coloring you like, you can use the at-home kits to touch up. But I would have it done in a salon if it's a first time.

If you want to dye it black maybe you should try some red tips or highlights with it so that it wont wash you out. Black is a very hard color to get rid of, also you can try a rinse first before you decided to dye it completely black. A rinse is like a dye but it's not permanent and only last 30days it washes off. Google black hair under images for more ideas. Good Luck!!

i don't recommend doing it yourself, it's really a complicated process that should be done by a professional, home hair color cannot lift your hair that light, and blonding kits will leave your hair too orange and it will have to be toned. Go to a salon and talk to a stylist.
