My dad didn't have to make me do it.. I wanted to learn it.. { I am also a Daddy's girl} I guess I was kinda of a town boy. At frist my dad had me helping him before I got my own car.. then when I got my first car.. he made me do it on my own under his watchful eye.{ the very first thing I did to my car was a new muffler.. 2 days after I bought it!} I can now replace a muffler, brakes, tires, fly wheel, timing chain, and much more!! I know more about fixing our two car's then my husband. Its very empowering also!!! My dad is awesome and I still help him fix all kinds of things... from cars to the kitchen sink. I think your a great dad for teaching her to do it herself... not only will she save lots of money.. but in the rare case she does need to take it to the shop she won't get screwed.... because she'll have a idea of what needs done.

Mine didn't but I also didn't have my own car until I went out of state for college. In all honesty I can't remember my dad doing the work on his own cars, he always took it somewhere if I can remember right. I've assisted my hubby in changing the oil and breaks number of times, but never done it myself.

I did alot of my own car maintence........ every person , male or female should at least know the basics of taking care of their vehicle... I can change the oil, check the fluids, change a tire, replace windshield wipers....... and alot more........ I also learned when I was being taken advantage of.... my ex was a mechanic who taught me alot........Now no one takes advantage of me....... and I try to do most of the small things myself........... big jobs , I do have a good mechanic for....

My dad made me do it and I'm so glad he did. I have a friend who took her car to a mechanic and he told her her "blinker fluid" needed changed. I can change my own oil, brakes, plugs, etc. I love knowing how to do all that.
