The upgrade version require a previous version of windows to install that...means's that if you have a clean hard drive you can't install the upgrade version on it...but the windows home basic not require a previous version to run on it...just run the disk from de boot or over another version of windows...and then will be installed......anyway 1 diagnostic check tool will run in your computer to certified that your pc is capable and have the minimum requirements to install that..

the upgraded version upgrades any previous version of windows to home basic. wit the full verion u can do a clean install of vista.
