The Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) did exist. At the age of 80, the Buddha announced that he would soon enter Parinirvana or the final deathless state abandoning the earthly body. He told his disciples to follow no leader, but to follow his teachings (dharma). Anyone is capable of becoming a Buddha.

The Buddha and The Christ both existed long ago...
They were sent here from the 9th dimension to teach us how to ascend, but of course we got it all wrong and nothing of their original teachings survives today....
The people who practice the religion of either, are only practising a man-made version of it...

Buddha is not a single person, but yes, some may be subject to debate, but there are enough evidence to prove that some of them existed.
Buddha is a term used on anyone who has achieved enlightenment. Whether enlightenment is real or not, those who are thought to have achieved it in Buddhism are referred to in such a way.

Siddharta Gautama (Buddha) died, and attained nirvana. This means that his rebirth cycle came to an end, and so his spirit is no longer mortal.
thewordofgodisjesus - I trust that you will one day know of your ignorance. Your insult is duly accepted, as it will only make me less ignorant. Thank you.
May peace go with you throughout your life.

He was a moral teacher teaching that we suffer because of our desires. In essence - eliminate desire, eliminate pain. That was the scope of his teachings. The rest you see in Buddhism was added later. Oh, forgot to add, he died long time ago.
