I know with the logical part of my brain that I can do it, but ten minutes in it seems way too hard and an hour of working out seems impossible. What do you do to keep yourself going?

I try not to pay attention to the time. I'll throw a towel over the timer. Most of the time I will watch tv while I work out and that helps pass the time. Or I'll listen to music. Once I get past 10 minutes I feel like I can make it through my whole workout. If you find a form of exercise that you enjoy time passes alot faster. Or I'll invite a friend to workout with me. Start slow- steadily build speed and the length of your workout over time. You can do it! I used to dread working out but I have learned to enjoy it. Plus, don't forget all of the benefits of working out other than just the obvious. You gain energy, sleep better at night, your heart, lungs, and brain all benefit... the list goes on.

I always start out on the treadmill. I like to run, it's easy, effective to burn calories and time goes by fast.
I always cover the timer, I don't know why but it helps me to not think about the time. I also don't look at the clock. Break your workout down into segments of time. Instead of looking at one hour of working out try to think about 10 minutes of walking, 40 minutes running, 20 on weights or whatever you prefer.
If you are in a gym choose a machine near the TV and watch some soap opera as one is sure to be on!. I know some people will laugh at that one but it at least helps pass the time.

Another thing. You can buy audio tapes/cds that are put together to help you keep a good workout pace. The music starts with a slower beat and each song speeds up then back down again. They are usually one hour recordings.

The hardest part for most people is to get to the gym.
Once i am there, i dont have an option in my head not to work out.
The longer i work out the better i feel and its hard to stop - i just want to do the maximum i can once i am there.
The gym i was going to also had little tv monitors on every cardio machine so time passed by faster and sometimes i worked out longer just because i wanted to see the end of a tv show.

listen to fast upbeat music and time will go by fast. look at yourself in the mirror and keep thinking that there is always someone better than you and the only way that your going to be better than them is if you keep pushing yourself(dont push yourself to much or you will end up hurting youself). getting a workout partner also helps.
