I would say neither if the Catholic is of sound mind, but if not the Catholic because I doubt the atheist would give a sh** about a priest.

I think an Atheist would have more of a reason to kill a priest. One reason is that because to catholics, a priest is holy. To an Atheist a priest would be an imposter, someone who lies to hundreds of people a day and encourage them to waist their life on meaningless prayer and sacrafice.

Catholic, because molesting kids is against God. An Atheist may kill a priest for the same reason, but Atheists usually are peaceful, and rely on the judicial system to garner revenge (remember, justice is just a prettier word for revenge).

Catholic kill Catholics all the time.
Look at WWII. Catholic against Catholic.
Sure, a Catholic will kill a priest, and go confess it to another priest so he can be redeemed. Wow! Makes sense doesn't it.

I've always said that a civil engineer is responsible for more lives than anyone else in the world. Now, are civil engineers mostly catholic or atheist...that's the real question.

That part of your comment is true. Why don't you tell the rest of the story: They were put to dead by their own people. Why? Because they were not willing to enforce the "Council of Trent"
A catholic newspaper in Spain wrote the following on the day Hitler died:
“Adolph Hitler, son of the Catholic Church, died while defending Christianity. It is therefore understandable that words cannot be found to lament over his death, when so many where found to exalt his life. Over his dead remains stands his victorious moral figure, with the palm of the martyr; God gives Hitler laurels of victory.”

A pagan Nazi.
During World War II, there were 3,647 priests, 389 clerics, 341 brothers, and 1,117 sisters put in concentration camps, of which 1,996 priests, 113 clerics, and 238 sisters perished.
This is not counting the priests and religious that were murdered outside of the camps.

A catholic seeking revenge would. I can't really imagine why an atheist would.
