My friend is getting married in January. She is a large woman and doesn't want to walk down the aisle like the Staypuff Marshmallow Mam. So, she zapped the white or ivory dress. Her hubby doesn't want her dressing in medieval-like garb either (which looks great on her-she has several formal medieval gowns). Both she and her Mom sew, but they need ideas on appropriate dresses that perhaps use more than one color to break up the expanse (for want of a better word). She also doesn't want a strapless gown. So, do any of you gals know of sites for them to visit to get ideas? Also, suggested color schemes that aren't pastel, but would be still appropriate for a modern wedding. Thanks!

Wow, ladies! Some of the dresses at your links are fabulous and would easily look good on her in white! Some really great styling there!

If she wants to wear a wedding dress, why couldn't she just find a wedding dress she likes and make it in a different colour?

Either way, I just did a quick Google search and hopefully this site will help. It has a lot of variety and many dresses are shown in different colours.

Just a word -- You might want to let your friend know that no one would dare judge her on her wedding day. If people do, they shouldn't even be invited. She's the bride and if a white, princess dress is what she wants, she should get it. If she's doing it because she'll feel self-concious, then by all means, rock it untraditional style.

I dont know off hand the site name but there are sites that are exceptional that cater to conservative women. The whole not wearing white thing could be gotten around easily. There are A LOT of gowns that are modren and have different colors. They may work great. Dont be afroad to go non traditional. The color dresses are goregous.

I think that by not wearing white the bride will draw even more attention to her size. There are sites for larger women where the gowns aren't strapless and have a more conservative or flattering design. These are some good ones.
