Hello All,

I have the Australian equivalent of KV-34XBR910 which is KV-HR36M31. It has two HD component inputs. When I connect this TV to a HD Set Top Box and feed it a 720p signal, the display distorts and then turns into a blue screen though there is perfect audio. However when I feed it a 576p signal (or) 1080i signal, everything is displayed correctly with perfect audio and video.

I have the soft copy of the service manual as well (thanks to AVForums) but dont have the knowledge to correct this.

Can any experts help me receive a 720p HD signal using Component inputs. I know my set supports this natively without upconverting to 720p to a 1080i signal.

Thanks,
SK

I must add that the TV is able to receive a 720p signal and upconvert it to 1080i. However it is NOT able to display 720p natively.

You seem to have a 1080i TV. That means, that when you feed it a 720p signal, the TV will scale that signal DOWN to a 1080i signal (which is made of two fields, 510 lines each).

It is always best to feed a TV a signal at its native resolution, in your case either 576p or 1080i. So even if you succeed to feed it a 720p signal it is not going you to buy you much in terms of video quality.

Tvs scale all inputs to their native resolution automatically. You should not have to do anything.
