Just FYI, I know what most doctors believe causes these sores and that includes Iron deficiency. Another cause could be stress. But its different between people. I just would like to know if there is a pretty much tried and true way to get rid of them or sooth them so they go away faster. Getting them less would be cool too. :) Thanks!

My son used to get them all the time. He started taking a multivitamin and after a few weeks they went away. If you try this don't stop taking the vitamins after they go away or the sores will come back. You should keep on taking them once you start.

The real reason is truly unknown. Some people feel they get them more often when they get more acid foods in their diet like tomatoes, oranges etc. An old wives tale says to use Milk of Magnesia on them which neutralizes the acid. There are sime over the counter salves made just for these apthous ulcers. They sometimes have a numbing property to them that can help if they are in a place that causes more pain.

I get them too, especially any spot that gets nicked in my mouth. I get them if I eat fresh pineapple, OJ, lemon, etc. There is a medication out that you paint on it that's supposed to help. I have lidocaine here at the house, but it's only good until it wears off, not long.

E-mail me if you'd like some old, old remedy that could help without meds or needles.

I was always told it was a vitamin deficiency, so get a great mulivitamin and take it on a daily basis, also I am going to spell this phoneticly( cam-foe-fin-eek) that is how it is pronounced, works great on numming them so they don't hurt as bad and also on healing them. sorry I don't know how to spell the medicine correctly however it can be bought over the counter and if you use this pronunciation, the pharmicist will know exactly what it is you want

YES!! My General doctor recommendec L-Lysine, 500 mg. tablets, 2 tablets in the morning and 2 at night and also to use Peroxyl mouth wash (watered down) to rinse my mouth in to ease the pain of the ulcers. IT WORKS!! They are gone in sometimes just the one day if I catch them starting and start piling in the L-Lysing. And the Peroxyl does help provide some easing to the pain. Oral B will numb the pain. Good luck. I sure feel for you. Please check with your doctor first in case you have allergies. I am just telling my tale - I can't perscribe for you, so check this out with your doctor, ok?
