ok. so i've had braces for a few weeks now, and im gonna get them tightened soon. it hurt like hell for the first week wen i got them. and i dont really wanna experience that pain again. so wut exactly happens wen the orthadontist tightens ur teeth? does it hurt a lot? and for how long?

Yes it does hurt but the pain usually goes away within the day. Your first time tightening it might hurt more than usual, and take longer for the pain to dissappear;but after you get used to it then it will seem like nothing. I would recommend taking some sort of pain killer either before or after you get your braces tightened. Its not that bad of an expierience just keep thinking of those beautiful teeth you will have after all of this is done! much luck=)

He doesn't really tighten them, he replaces the band across the front, and maybe some of the braces. And yes, it hurts pretty much like the first time. Take ibuprofen every 6 hours for at least 3 days. Soft, cold food.

It will hut mostly on the second day but after that it should go away. If not don't worry everyones different. Just take advil and try not to eat hard foods if you dont have to good luck

Oh yeah of course its going to hurt and only for a day or two. atleast mine hurt for a few days . I just used advil to ease the pain. good luck.

When they put stronger bands on, it hurts a little bit. I would suggest taking advil before going into the orthodontist.

My daughter had braces - she said that it hurts less.. hope this helps..remember JamaBa Juice is your friend after you get them tightened :)

For me it didn't - only a bit for the first two days, but nothing as bad as when I first gotten them
