they're too expensive to buy on her own. just one of them is 700 bucks. only has a generic. There's gotta be a way for sick people to get medicine if they have no insurance right??
she's not working because shes 'mentally not stable' i guess... and she's attending frequent meetings during the day.
Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated, with NO sarcasm. THanks!

If they are psychiatric meds, try your local public mental health facility, we have gateway and they operate on a sliding scale. If she's not working and has no income, they could be free.

FYI: Don't call your sister stupid.

Good Luck.

Some drug companies have programs that can help patients get medications for low or no cost. Call the pharmacy and ask if the company has such a program. Pharmacy's know the companies better than the doctors. Go to the drug company's web sites, call the mental heath offices for your county and state they may even have a program that she can use. Medicare can be a bit overwhelming but could help your sister get her medications.. A lot depends on her age, and who the primary caretakers are, and who she lives with and where she lives, and income she or her caretaker's have. Sometimes you have to get a little creative to get what you need from the programs available.
hope that helps.

It depends on where you live- most cities in the US have some kind of free or low cost clinics for mental health, and many states have programs she could apply for too. Does she have a case worker? Are these meeting she's attending related to mental health, and if so, could the organizers point her in the right direction? Although the demand absolutely exceeds the supply, there are resources out there. Have her explain the situation to her prescriber(s) and see if they can suggest where to go from here.

If you don't want people to be sarcastic than stop calling your sister stupid about something that she can't control. She needs to apply for SSI and until she's approved she needs to apply for Medicaid to pay for her meds. They will cover three months back medications or medical bills. And since she has no way of paying for her meds she can get an emergency Medicaid card until she's approved for the program. Have her get a letters from her doctors and programs to help prove her need. It shouldn't take more than two weeks for an emergency card.

If she has no or low income, she may be able to receive health and drug benefits through Medicaid. (Apply at Social Services)

Some states also have a government program called Aid to the Needy Disabled. If she has children, she may be eligable for TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families until she can get back on her feet.

Also, Contact your local pharmacy. Today drug companies have programs where needy people can receive their medications from the drug company.

She should apply for SSI and she will get medical or medicade one or the other with it. The ssi is around 800 or 900 a month. It is for people who suffer break downs or cant take care of themselves. It is what most homeless people have on the streets. So if she has a problem and a doctor agrees with her, she can go that way. The other option is to get a job, or find a alternative herbal solution

certain drug companies have programs for uninsured pts like Bridges to Access. Ask the dr if he could check with some of the drug reps that drop off samples if their company has a program like this.

you said no sarcasm or mean things, yet you call your sister "stupid"?

anyway, she needs to get on Medicare. how is she paying for the help she's getting? depending on how "mentally unstable" she is, she can still get a job.
