One additional bit of information: When you replace the marked ball, you must recreate your original lie. This may involve raking the sand before your shot.

yes, anytime 2 balls are close to one another when they're not on the green, you may mark one of them, but you must replace it in the exact spot with the exact same lie. This is different from the putting green though because you cannot clean your ball once you have marked it.

yes u r allowed to mark the ball and after the other ball is struck u must place the ball that was marked back in its original position. u r not allowd to clean or improve the balls condition at all.

yep, you have to mark it or else one ball will hit the other.


after one player hits, the other player's ball has to go exactly where it was before.
