It depends on what is wrong with you. If you have pain with swelling of some kind or muscle pain, then take the Tylenol 3, that has codeine and Tylenol in it. If you are just in pain from something like surgery, cancer, or something like that the Oxycodone would be very good. With the Tylenol 3 you might want to try that first. Take as directed. That is usually 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 8 hours as needed for pain. The thing is try to take it before the pain gets to bad. Pain is one of those things that is hard to get under control once it starts. If the Tylenol 3 does not work then take a dose of the Oxycodone. The thing is do not take more than perscribed. If you over do the codeine in the Tylenol 3 or the oxycodone you may have difficulty breathing and it can cause harm. You might want to look up some info on the drugs at webmd.com or just do a general search and you can find out more about each med.

I am a bit concerned that your doctor prescribed both of them; usually it's one or the other, but I am NO doctor. Which is better? That really depends on the severity of your pain. If you take the Tylenol 3 and are still in pain, then the Oxycodone would probably work better to ease that pain. Now, both can be addictive if taken for long periods of time and if taken for anything other than pain. Oxycodone is even more addictive than Tylenol 3. If I were you, I would try to just take the Tylenol 3 and only use the Oxycodone if it absolutely needed; if the pain is completely unbearable. Do not ever take these two drugs at the same time or even in the same day though- that is dangerous. You must only take one or the other!!!!

Oxycodone is more effective. Just don't mix, or take them both at the same time. But, that would apply to adults; I don't know about one your age, but if the doctor prescribed both, I would believe that it is OK.
Either one can become "habit forming", so take as little as possible.
My doctor prescribed Oxycodone after surgery; I took one, then regular Tylenol a few times, then did without.

No.....what were you given Oxycodone for? It is very addicting, it actually is a from of heroin. If you have had an operation or something that you are treating pain for, I would stick with Tylenol#3. Alot of people are allergic to the Codeine that is in it though, you might have him switch it to Vicodin. I wouldn't take that longer than a week either due to the addictive properties. Hope this helps!

It depends on why you were prescribed them. They're the same drug, it depends on the strength of the oxy, though.

You should absolutely not take them for more than two weeks straight. And then shouldn't take them for at least a month if possible.
These are highly addictive drugs. And once you get there, it takes a week of excrutiating pain to detox, and months of feeling sickly before you feel normal.

You can't possibly comprehend this if you haven't gone through it, but doctors are very irresponsible when it comes to pain medication. It's up to you to be responsible. Because once you're hooked, there's no easy way off medically. You'll just be treated like an addict, and have to keep taking them, or suffer to get off. (try picture having a really bad flu for six months straight).

Well one is an opiate and the other has codeine in it ( #3 ). I am very surprised you were given both at the same time and more surprised you were given Oxycodone. Take the Tylenol. If you experience stomach distress discontinue it. Codeine can do that. Either way, stay away from the other.

regrettably painkillers for surgical treatment and maximum cancers sufferers are often underprescribedd, so which you will possibly desire to circulate in and tell them it extremely is not working and probably they are able to grant you an more desirable dosage or a distinctive analgesic. you may build resistance/tolerance to it yet this in many cases takes a while and get withdrawals in case you supply up taking it at once without changing it with yet another opioid painkiller, happens over some weeks. i do no longer think of it may be more desirable by potential of taking paracetamol, yet you need to ask your scientific professional, it ought to no longer be a large thought to take the two mutually without asking the scientific professional first, using fact oxycodone is already extremely stable, so as that they might desire to shrink your dosage in case you will take paracetamol. despite the fact that paracetamol ought to help kill the soreness, because it acts in a distinctive thank you to oxycodone. the element you're able to desire to appreciate, is not any opioid soreness killer you're taking would be as stable using fact the morphine, it extremely is like the "maximum suitable" yet using fact it is so addictive, it extremely is use is extremely limited for soreness drugs. like I pronounced already, try to be able to attempt something else, like fentanyl or something more desirable. it extremely is feasible it would not artwork for you using 3 unknown reason, drugs do no longer continually artwork the comparable on all of us.

I too find it difficult to believe that your Dr. gave you both of these at the same time. I know the answer, but I think you should ask your mom. The bottles should be in your parents hands not yours and they should be doling them out to you. Either of them could kill you in an over dose or if combined.
