Well I don't know why you would say the dentists lie all the time. You must have had some bad experiences. The only way the root canal would hurt is if the infection wasn't completely gone. If there is still infection in there it is gonna hurt because the numbing medication can't work. The infection blocks it from working. I suggest you get rid of the infection completely before having your procedure done.
Yes the shot hurts at first, but after it is numb really there is no pain that I can think of. I had one done and I felt no pain during the procedure. Yes it felt a little sore afterwards when the meds wore off, but nothing I couldn't handle.
I guess everyone deals and thinks of pain differently. I have never had a dentist lie to me. They have been so good to me/

I had a root canal last month and I was absolutely terrified. I am a huge chicken when it comes to anything involving the dentist. But the truth is that I wasted so much time and energy being scared. It really wasn't that bad. Of course it's not fun, but not because it's painful. I didn't have any pain at all, aside from the novocaine shot. And even that wasn't bad because my endodontist numbed my gum before giving me the shot. I do recommend having it done by an endodontist instead of by a regular dentist though if possible. A dentist can do them also, but an endodontist just does root canals all day, so they have a lot more experience with them and also know exactly where to shoot the novocaine to numb you correctly. Good luck and don't lose sleep over this like I did. You will be fine. I never even took the pain pills.

I had a root canal done when I was 16 years old and no it did not hurt at all. I did not even have any pain after the numbing wore off. Your tooth may be a little sensitive after the numbing wears off but if you had alot of pain like I did before you have the root canal done then it will feel so much better. The nerve is infected and they will remove that at your first root canal visit. You will fine so you have nothing to worry about. Good Luck.

I've had several root canals. Really, they don't hurt.
They put in freezing just like when you get a filling. It's more drilling and stuff than a filling, but just the same in terms of no pain. Even when the freezing wears off, it doesn't hurt.
If you feel a bit jittery at the beginning, remember that the freezing medicine does that to a person. Breathe and think of something pleasant or sing a song in your head.
Try not to worry. It will be OK.

Yes. I've had one. And no it doesn't.
But you will feel a slight sensation, not a painful one though.
And make certain to fill the prescription for pain killers because once your mouth begins
to awaken , pain shall ensue. Simply obey
the post-surgery instructions and everything should work out wonderfully.
Best of luck.
