Matthew 5:13 says, "Ye are the salt of the eart: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."

Lets see what salt is used for,

1) Flavoring, we are to bring flavor to the world with Christ. For in Christ we not only live life, we live it to the fullest.

2) Preservation, we are to preserve the message of the Gospel, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone that believes.

3) It melts coldness, we as believers are to melt the coldness of the world, and the unbelievers heart, with the love of the Father.

So are you salty enough? Also can you think of anything else that salt is used for? Thank you all and God Bless.

Good question! Now if only I could say yes to it.I find that I can be salty at times, yet I also need a little extra touch to do the work that we are all called to do.The help needed is available to all who will come and receive it.

When salt is exposed to the elements of this world it losses it flavor. We to lose are savor when the things of this world over take us.When our Lord spoke these words, salt that had lost its savor was thrown onto the roads and paths of that day to help control vegetation. Thus it was "trodden under foot of man".

I appreciate your question. I was salty enough today that a wolf in sheep's clothing took off his disguise. He didn't like the truth contained in God's Word. And in all honesty, I was simply concerned for the person. He asked first. I wasn't trying to shove salt down his throat. But he did take a bite out of me. I need God's comfort because it was very hurtful after a hard day.

As salt is against the law you should be careful what you say.

It has been used as money in ancient times.

This is ironic, because that's how most clergy and politicians think of Christians today, a source of wealth and power. If you can get people to believe in an old superstition, you can get them to empty their pockets and vote as a bloc.

So, "salt of the Earth" can be translated as "dirty money". Very appropriate.
