About 7 yrs ago, I went for a mammogram due to a lumpy area in my left breast(upper-outer region).I was told it was "nothing to worry about." Well, the lumpiness never went away and about 2-3 months ago I started noticing that sometimes at night when I'd take my bra off for the night that the left cup (bottom part) would have a strange and foul odor. Then, after pressing on the lumpy area because it was sore,I noticed a green-looking,malodorous,milky discharge coming from my left breast.Perhaps out of fear,I tried ignoring the problem and just became more diligent with keeping the area/my bra clean. It's not A LOT of discharge. If I ssqueeze my breast as though I were trying to express breast-milk from it, the green discharge trickles out easily. --This is a serious question..Please--if you have any expertise relating to such a subject, please tell me what it may be...could it just be an abscess? Could it actually be cancer?

You ABSOLUTELY need to go have this checked. It is not normal to have that discharge. It may not be cancer. It could be an infection, bacteria, sores ect. But only your dr can tell you for sure. But ignoring it obviously is not helping. If you don't feel confident in the dr that told you the lump was "nothing to worry about" then get another dr. Either way, you have to take charge of your health. It is your life!

Angelia~

Please go and have this checked out. My breast cancer was found because I was having a dark brown discharge from my left breast. I was breast feeding my daughter at the time and it was misdiagnosed as an infected milk duct. Which may very well be what your problem is, BUT, this is serious enough to go and get this investigated. Normally since it is green and has an odor - I'd say it is an infection, but why take chances!!

Good luck!!

You need to go for an ultra sound as well as a mammogram any dishcharge needs to be checked. I hope it's a mammary gland infection and not something more serious, please have it checked right away. I noticed a lump above my breast and three doctors told me it was nothing to worry about and I was feeling fatiqued alot and flu like I insisted on bloodwork and everything one Doc told me to take antidepressants, turns out I had cancer and they prevented me from getting the help I needed quickly now I have to have chemo and rad. And it's tiring and scary. So don't delay get it looked at right away, it's often said that it's not cancer if it smells but I'm not a Doctor get it looked please, please.

It could be cancer.

It could be an infected milk duct.

There is one form of breast cancer that starts as infected milk ducts, so it could be both!

See a Dr as soon as possible!

The worst breast cancer is the untreated one!

I had the same thing. I went to the doctor. Had a mamagram
I had lymphomia (cancer) I dont know if the nipple discharge had anything to do with it but it went away after treatment.

Sounds like mastitis, an infection of the mamary glands. Go get checked out ASAP.
