I make a layered meat & cheese strata ~ it's a little like making bread pudding, but instead of the sugar and cinnamon, you add things like crumbled cooked sausage, onions, green peppers, and shredded cheddar cheese. It's a heck of a great meal and feeds a single guy for about 4 days.

If I have too much stale bread ~ I run it all through the blender and turn it into bread crumbs. These can be stored in a clean, but empty yogurt container and frozen for another day.

Here is a great recipe for Bread Pudding - it is delicious!
8 slices bread- cubed
4 eggs beaten
1 cup sugar
4 cups milk
1/2 cup raisins
1 tsp. vanilla
Cinnamon and nutmeg to taste - use less nutmeg than cinnamon
Place bread cubes in greased 2 quart baking dish. Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla in small bowl. Stir in raisins (can also add chopped walnuts if desired) - pour over bread cubes. Sprinke with the sugar and nutmeg and cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
I like to serve this with Caramel ice cream topping drizzled over the top while still warm...

You can crumble it and make home made stuffing,

or you can make french toast. The bread soaks up the egg mixture better when it's stale.

Or you could feed the birds with it! They love stale bread!

put it in a food processor and make bread crumbs. add a bit of italian seasoning and make italian bread crumbs. sprinkle it with a little olive oil and garlic powder. cut it in cubes and put it in the oven at 250-300 degress for about 5-10 minutes and you've got salad croutons. or, you could just feed the birds

You can make French toast, bread pudding, or any recipe that requires you to soak the bread. If it isn't too old, you can just use it for plain toast.

Tons of crutons then have a big salad.

You could make meatloaf with it too. Or cook a huge turkey and make stuffing out of the bread.

As long as its just stale and not moldy.
