It's not free. Try Open Office, a free alternative to Microsoft Office.

OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project. Compatible with all other major office suites, the product is free to download, use, and distribute.

If you google "Microsoft Office Word Download," the very first search listing is from Microsoft Office 2007, a legit site. You can get a free trial for about 2 months, then you have to buy it.
In Microsoft Office '07, you get Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others. You just have to sign up, it's very simple and free.

You might be able to find a cracked version of it for download at limeware, as the first poster said, or some other peer2peer network, (I would try eDonkey). BUT, keep in mind that it is illegal, if that is of concern for you. As some of the others said, Open Office is probably the best legal alternative solution. Another one, is to buy the Student version for about $100 dollars. You can even install it legally in up to 3 PCs in the same household (but... ehhh.... )

You can't get it free - Microsoft sells it to make a profit. If you get a free download, it's an illegal copy.
