I'm the oldest of six children, It's me, my sister, and I have four half-brothers. I've never met my brothers, because I don't see my dad, and my mom always told me that he wouldn't let me see them. Well, recently, I learned that I am allowed to see them, but it would mean seeing a father whom I haven't spoken to for almost 9 years. I've always wanted brothers, and I've been dying to see mine since the oldest was born 7 years ago. If I chose to see them, it could make the already rocky relationship between me and my mother 10 times worse. What do you think I should do?

(By the way, they do know they have sisters, I just found out also that my father has pictures of us hanging up along with pictures of the boys)

Staying with my dad would kill her. Anyways, legally, he's not my dad, when my mom got remarried, my stepfather adopted my sister and me. Now I wonder if my father signed the papers by choice or force.

Shame on your mother for playing this game with her childrens emotions. Call your dad and see your family.

Go ahead and meet the rest of your family. Her punishing you for all of this isn't right. Maybe you could stay with your dad since things are rocky at home, and will be worse. Your sisters could as well.

I would try and mend the relationship with my mother first and foremost...After the two of you have mended your fences you should explain to your mom how important it is for you to know your brothers. These are your brothers and you and your sister deserve to know them as they do you.

If you and your mother cannot get your relationship together, it is still wise to confront your mom with the issues at hand.
