That IS the essential element. Protestants should have nothing against Catholics themselves. The Roman Catholic Church however, is corrupt and has strong pagan roots. It persecuted the true saints in the middle ages for trying to bring the truth of the Bible to the common man, it started some of the most bloody conflicts in history to capture a piece of land, and fufills prophecy as the little horn that speaks boastful words against the Most High. It is a cameleon that is constantly shifting to fit popular opinioin. In spite of this, God still has his faithful few inside the organization, and it is not another Christian's job to tear them down personally.

The True Church will always be persecuted; it's following Our Lord by carrying our cross and others that don't want to that are jealous that we are. The devil is very active against truth, and the truth lies in the most difficult place to remain. Feel comfort that our sufferings and persecutions, united to those of Our Lord, will merit us an eternal crown. Offering them to Him patiently will move Him to give others the grace to see the truth and where it lies.Keep The Faith! God Bless.

I'm Catholic, and have found that many people who are anti-Catholic have heard claims against the Church, but never bothered to investigate these statements for themselves. There are all kinds of bizarre anti-Catholic conspiracy theories out there, perpetuated by people like Jack Chick and his ilk, and many people choose to automatically believe this stuff instead of doing their own research. I've personally helped change several people's minds about the Church by simply taking them to Mass and letting them see for themselves what we do when we're at worship, which is very different from all the wild tales and rumors they've heard.

The catholic church is the church of the bible. A previous person on this site said
protestants don t bother to research themselves, concerning the catholic church s beliefs.
This may be either laziness on their part, or just plain stupidity. Many protest-ants
are jealous that priests cannot marry. I am sick and tired of these "Christians" running
down my religion on the radio, television and to my face. Not only defend the church, when they confront, but
be proactive, not only reactive to these"christians." Luther was an apostate. Catholics who
followed Luther, were rebels. Not even less. Again, be proactive to these people, not only
reactive.

Robert, I think I can help you with this question. You see, I was reared as a Baptist...my dad was a pastor. When I was older and my daughter was marrying, she informed me that he was Catholic.
In as much, I took it upon myself to learn about Catholicism so that I would understand,if she decided to make Catholicism her choice of worship. I did just that, Two years of study and then, I attended mass to get the "feel".
As a result, I fell in love with many of the people and they with me. I started teaching studies and the priest loved my knowledge. We spent many, many days talking about the scriptures.
Now, from all of this, I can see both sides here! It is ignorance which causes biases, prejudices and such...same in this case! People here tidbits about the Catholic worship and instead of trying to understand the why, they draw their own, very misinformed judgements. It is true with all religions.
I do know what you mean about people coming after the Catholics as I sure got blasted by my family members and others too!
Truth is, everyone should be able to worship God in his/her own way and in peace! We should all act like Good Christians and leave the judging to GOD!

It is a threat to their own belief, it is the only christian religion that has documentation to prove it was founded by the apostles. History is only convenient when it supports your own belief, that is why christianity didn't start for some people until after the reformation. Christ said wars will be fought, not because he started them, but because the one true church is hard to follow due to our attachment to the earth.

Omg i was just going to ask a question like that! I agree because after the pope said that the Catholic church is the only way to heaven some other pastor went to a conference and spent time talking about the pope is a devil.. many other religion look at the pope as the anti-Christ. Catholicism is the first branch of Christianity-then other forms broke off that, so why do people look at Catholics as if they are different religion, we are all Christians we just practice differently.

Let's learn from the Good Book that you both share, which says:
"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye." --Matthew 7:5.
Furthermore, there are specific reasons WHY they call themselves "Protestants". And if you really want answers, it behooves you to find out what they have PROTESTED against in the first place.
Peace be with you.

Every time you see someone persecuting the Catholic Church, or speaking falsely against her, be happy, because those people are merely helping Catholics to gain their eternal reward in Heaven.
It is a promise from Jesus Christ Himself.
"Do not be surprised, brethren, IF THE WORLD HATES YOU." 1John 3:13
"IF THE WORLD HATES YOU, KNOW THAT IT HATED ME BEFORE YOU.
IF YOU WERE OF THE WORLD, THE WORLD WOULD LOVE ITS OWN. BUT BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT OF THE WORLD, BUT I HAVE CHOSEN YOU OUT OF THE WORLD, THEREFORE THE WORLD HATES YOU.
REMEMBER THE WORD THAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU: NO SERVANT IS GREATER THAN HIS MASTER. IF THEY HAVE PERSECUTED ME, THEY WILL PERSECUTE YOU ALSO; IF THEY HAVE KEPT MY WORD, THEY WILL KEEP YOURS ALSO.
BUT ALL OF THESE THINGS THEY WILL DO TO YOU FOR MY NAME'S SAKE, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW HIM WHO SENT ME.
IF I HAD NOT COME AND SPOKEN TO THEM, THEY WOULD HAVE NO SIN. BUT NOW THEY HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR THEIR SIN. HE WHO HATES ME HATES MY FATHER ALSO. IF I HAD NOT DONE AMONG THEM WORKS SUCH AS NO ONE ELSE HAS DONE, THEY WOULD HAVE NO SIN. BUT NOW THEY HAVE SEEN, AND HAVE HATED BOTH ME AND MY FATHER;
BUT THAT THE WORD WRITTEN IN THEIR LAW MAY BE FULFILLED, 'THEY HAVE HATED ME WITHOUT CAUSE', (Psalms 35:19)".
John 15:18-25
I would say that Jesus Christ said it all in these verses written with the inspired pen of Saint John wouldn't you?
Name another Church which is attacked so much on a daily basis as is the Catholic Church?
Jesus Christ warned us, "You will be HATED BY ALL NATIONS for My Name's sake."
Matthew 24:9
"Blessed are you when men reproach you, and persecute you, and speaking falsely, say all manner of evil against you, for My sake. REJOICE AND EXULT, BECAUSE YOUR REWARD IS GREAT IN HEAVEN; for so did they persecute the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:11-12

I for one am not anti- any religion. But i do like to point out the flaws, and the rather ridiculous nature of some of the ideas presented. The Catholic chuch is rather corrupt, and controversial, and when people bring that out, the Catholics run, hide and try to pass them off as conspiracy theories... uhh.
