I'm a 16 yr old girl, I'm 5'3" and weigh just under 130 lbs. I want to lose about 15 lbs but it's hard with this sweet tooth of mine. Exercising more isn't an easy option because of school and work and school related activities...so does anyone know of any easy and quick methods to lose this extra weight?

To maintain a healthy lifestyle & get back to the size you want to be try this:

Try making small changes, if you really love a certain food that is ok, just cut down your portions, you don't need to deprive yourself to be healthy. I myself am a huge "grazer" I eat a lot of fruit & veggies as snacks, baby carrots, snap peas, grape tomatoes, grapes, berries, peaches. I also love the Flat Earth veggie chips, Flat earth also has really good fruit chips, dark chocolate, quaker ranch rice cakes, popcorn, whole grain crackers & string cheese. These are all small snacks with low fat & low calories.

As for your overall diet try to cut down on your calories, eat lean protein, and whole grains - bread is not bad, so long as it is whole grain & high in fiber, also eat your veggies & drink lots of water. It is best to eat 1200-1500 calories per day, if you eat less than this your metabilism will slow down, making it harder to lose weight. NO fast food, no soft drinks (diet or regular) no eating unless you are hungery.

That being said, never underestimate the power of a good workout routine. In order to be healthy you MUST make time to exercise. Not exercising is not an option if you want to be healthy.
Lots of Cardio & weight training. do 30-45 minutes of strength training 3-4 times per week followed by 45-50 minutes of cardio 5-6 times per week. do your strength training 1st, it burns more calories. I also do loads of crunches prior to & after cardio. Also walk more during the day. Take a walk on your lunch break, walk to the store, aim for 10,000 steps per day a pedomiter is a great idea. The more active you are the more calories you will burn & the more weight you will lose.

To stay healthy & not get discouraged remember this:
It is not recommended that you lose more than 2-3 pounds per week. Rapid weight loss can be dangerous & is hard to maintain. losing weight is difficult because 1 lb is 3000 calories, so you must burn 3000 calories per pound you want to lose.

if you really want to lose the weight you are going to have to use dicipline & work hard. your health is worth it!

I've been in your spot more times than I can count. Now, I'm almost 34 and I've come to the realization that part of my problem is that I'm not eating enough of the healthy foods, not getting enough water, and not getting enough sleep and its making the cravings for sweet things worse. What you need to do is talk to your doctor and your mom about what would be the healthiest weight for you right now. Your body is still developing so there will be times where it will chunk up a bit in order to grow or develop. You need to allow for that. Anyways, your doctor and mom should be able to get you a healthy plan in place. Once you have that, when you do have a sweet craving, look into getting some almonds and dark chocolate chips. One handful will stop the craving. The dark chocolates are so rich, and so you won't need as much. Here is another resource for you. Google "Spark Teens". There is a website that will help you track your calories and exercise and any other health goals so you can see where you have trouble making your goals. I use the adult version of the site and its a big help. Good luck. Stay healthy.

When it comes to losing weight there are no quick methods, This goes to everyone. It takes time, hard work and discipline.

Maybe you should try and figure out if there's a pattern when you reach out for sweets. How about switching candies for veggies, like carrot sticks. Sound yucky to a sweet tooth person like you, but what you want to aim for is replacing your intake of candy whenever your craving for sweets hits .

good luck.

Fruits are great for a sweet tooth, because they are naturally sweet. Bananas are a favorite of mine, because they are portable and don't need to be washed. But try to eat a variety of fruits like mangos, plums, apples, bananas, berries, grapes, etc. A bowl of mixed fruit is a great tasting and healthy treat. You can even mix it with plain yogurt or low fat ice cream (tastes like the real thing) once in awhile. Also don't deny yourself the treats you really like, because then you'll feel deprived and may end up bingeing. Just eat smaller portions by sharing with others or save half for later- the first few bites are usually the best anyway.

For exercise, try simple things like taking the stairs or parking a little farther. Walk whenever you can. A few minutes here and there can really add up over time. You can do it!

Try the South Beach Diet. You can skip phase 1 and phase 2 is very healthy letting you eat veggies, fruit, good carbs, good fat and protein. I have...I had....a very bad sweet tooth myself. I did the diet and after only 3 or 4 days I did not crave the sweets and bad carbs that I could not have. The first few days are tough though. There are sugar free candies that will help you get through the day and they are 95% as good as the real thing! Good luck!

Well, first thing you can do is to start cutting out your sugar drinks and drinking a lot more water. Youll lose 10 pounds pretty quickly if you keep up with it, and thats pretty close to your goal, isnt it?

well you're gonna have to overcome that sweet tooth for one, we'll call that self discipline, if you wanna eat it, cut it down. drop the sodas and start drinking water, alot of it. your eating habits are half the battle, without that change you won't lose any weight i promise.
