Question for Catholics.?

Why do many fundies say you are not "real" Christians.

I thought that if you believe that Jesus was the messiah you are a Christian.

Where do they think they get their precious bible from?

Who knows,who cares. Life's too short,you know? I don't know where they get their wacky,hate-filled notions from. Anyway,they constittute maybe 2% of people professing to be Christian,so we don't worry about them,except for the negative publicity they generate. Uninformed people tend to assume they are typical Christians,not a loonie fringe.

many "fundies" i.e. most of the people who have answered here, and pretentiously speak of their so-called knowledge about the bibles' origin and doctrines DON'T HAVE A CLUE about which they speak. if there si one christian church, it is the catholic church. why do you think it IS beleagered with problems? satan demanded it be sifted like wheat. the attacks come from all directions, even within.
the catholic church played a vital role in the creation, protection, and propagation of the New Testament. It's bishops helped form the 27 book canon and Pope Siricius declared it the canon of the church universal in A.D. 397 (council of carthage).
the fundies wouldn't have a bible to foul up and misquote if it were not preserved and handed down by the catholic church.
why on earth do these psuedo-scholars even speak up? do they NOT know that the bible itself states oral tradition is as highly regarded as that which is written? Do they NOT understand that NO apostles quoted any other apostle? they quoted from fragments/scrolls of the O.T., and when preaching to the jews of dispersia, they are recorded quoting from the septuagint, the greek O.T. NOT any New Testament writers? so, if the bible alone theory really was the rule of faith...would the N.T. have any authority at all? I think it was the catholic church that compiled the N.T. and cast off the spurious (i.e.shepard of hermas gospel of thomas) and included the inspired (letters of paul, letters of john). had they only done a CURSORY examination of their OWN history, they would know that there were several canons in debate and the POPE settled it.
Furthermore, where do they think their denomination came from? Did it just "POOF!" exist from nothing in A.D. 1530?
Where in the bible does it teach, or even say, faith ALONE? How about bible ALONE? do they CARE that they teach ANTIBIBLICAL doctrines because of this? Are they aware that they CONTRADICT the very DICTATES of the apostles themselves by teaching such heresy?

Many people dispute some of their teachings and say the basis for that belief are not in the bible
Such as 1 timothy 3; It says a spiritual leader should be a husband of one wife. Over in 1 Timothy 4:3 says to question a religion that forbids us to marry. Most Christian religions feel that a man should have a wife. that seems to be their biggest problem. Because many pagan religions forbid its leaders to marry. Buddhist.?
then there was paying for the priest to pray someone out of hell. Going to confessions and paying for them to be forgiven.
So poor people cannot be forgiven when they sin?
The making of Mary a God and saying she was forever a virgin. She wasn't a God and was married to Joseph and they had children together.
She was not freed from Adamic sin. Or she would still be alive. A good women no doubt, and a respectable person.
So it is a few problems with beliefs that upset others.

Because believe it or not Catholics are very liberal when it comes to religion when compared to "Fundies". We are accepting of evolutions (God still was the creator). We see many passages as fables or stories. Not exact history.

Fundies are off in their own little world (personally i do not like them, at all) Their beliefs are so warped and crazed anything that does not fit their strict belief system is considered ludacris. They bash the Pope for having a central authority because it is the Fundies, seperation from outside guidelines that allow them to create a strict set of beliefs.

I do not know why they say we are not "real" Christians, and I do not know where they think the Bible came from. I do know that I am a Christian and I am a Catholic.

Every time you see someone persecuting the Catholic Church, or speaking falsely against her, be happy, because those people are merely helping Catholics to gain their eternal reward in Heaven.
It is a promise from Jesus Christ Himself.

I would say that Jesus Christ said it all in these verses written with the inspired pen of Saint John wouldn't you?
Name another Church which is attacked so much on a daily basis as is the Catholic Church?
Jesus Christ warned us, "You will be HATED BY ALL NATIONS for My Name's sake."

Christians were originally catholics that turned away and started the protestant movement.
Both are called 'christians' generically.
The bible came from the jewish faith.

fundies believe exactly what is written in the bible with no further meaning for example in the bible it mentioned sumone trapped in whale and surviving fundies believe exactly that is written they believe it literally whereas christians find a deeper meaning and morals within the bible=] the bible was'nt written by god more so the people of that time,....you no the prophets
