I have not known this guy very long, but I keep thinking about him. He knows I'm in a rocky relationship which I'm trying to get out of.

I think he would think he is too old for me. Problem is I see him in a "professional" setting only. I won't be seeing him for that long either but I want to give him some idea that I am interested before then. I'm not great at flirting - its something new for me, I've always been very shy. Before I meet him I get so nervous, but once I'm there I relax and he puts me at ease.

Don't think I have the confidence to ask him out. As I said I'm shy and not very good at being flirty. I try to ask him about himself...but we often end up wrapped up in work so we can't chat without interruptions. Its all very new to me, as I have never really fancied anyone...my very long term b/f kind of didnt give me the chance to even say no to him...it just wasnt my choice. Only now am I gaining strength to leave him.

Until you're done w/ relationship # 1, most guys will feel you're not available. Complete your "break-up" process first.

Then, no guy I've known can pick-up on sutilties.. Be frank, and fill him in that you're interested in spending time w/ him.

Once he feels your free, all systems are a go!

Good luck

wow! I am in that same situation! I am so crazy about my old boss. I have had a bf for 4 1/2 years, and that has been rocky as well. While my old boss was my boss, Everything remained totally professional, but when we both eventually left the company, I broke up with my bf and we started hanging out every day. First, we had to get over the "ur my boss" weirdness, then we just became too good of friends. I guess our timing was off, but to answer your question, PLEASE don't just sit there and wait for him to let you know he's interested. That is what I did, and I lost my chance. If I could go back, I would have just told him when I had the opportunity. Good luck!

Just be nice to him. You shouldn't go overboard with showing him you're interested because the average guy loves the chase of getting a girl they THINK is unattainable (when a girl plays hard to get. They say they hate it, but it's so obvious they don't). If he asks you out, say 'yes'. Say things to him in a very nice way. You may act flirty with him, but don't be TOO obvious. Do this, and you'll have him tied tightly around your finger!
